[@eemmtt]: I have to voice my concern about any 40k Imperium character in a major faction, which is that their religion and devotion would get in the way of their cooperation. ^^; With non-faction characters it's a bit different but yeah.

[@Great Sogeking]: This is still open, and as long as your character is acceptable they can be from anything.
