The Sphinx General context from History: It usually has the haunches of a lion, sometimes with the wings of a great bird, and the face of a human. It is mythicised as treacherous and merciless. Those who cannot answer its riddle suffer a fate typical in such mythological stories, as they are killed and eaten by this ravenous monster. This deadly version of a sphinx appears in the myth and drama of Oedipus. Unlike the Greek sphinx which was a woman, the Egyptian sphinx is typically shown as a man (an androsphinx). In addition, the Egyptian sphinx was viewed as benevolent, but having a ferocious strength similar to the malevolent Greek version and both were thought of as guardians often flanking the entrances to temples. In European decorative art, the sphinx enjoyed a major revival during the Renaissance. Later, the sphinx image, something very similar to the original Ancient Egyptian concept, was exported into many other cultures, albeit often interpreted quite differently due to translations of descriptions of the originals and the evolution of the concept in relation to other cultural traditions. Sphinxes are generally associated with architectural structures such as royal tombs or religious temples. The oldest known sphinx was found near Gobekli Tepe at another site, Nevali Çori, or possibly 120 miles to the east at Kortik Tepe, Turkey, and was dated to 9,500 BCE. Bio: One of the Sphinx in Ancient Greece is under the protection of the Seer by the name of Cassandra. The Seer herself is un-aging and has been asked by the Gods and Deities of Olympus to serve and protect one of the most Famous Sphinx. Anyone who shall try to pass by, will hear her voice. The Sphinx/Cassandra will decide if they are worthy to pass if they complete three tasks. If they do not complete them, or shall fail to impress her with their deeds. They will die on the spot. For those who seek the truth, and want to know more about their future will often go to the Sphinx and seek out Cassandra in person; when this happens the Seer will tell them more of their future, what they can expect/what they should look out for. But Cassandra also dabbles in Witchcraft and dark magic. Some of the magic helps out the Darker Gods and Goddess, whilst some of her magic helps aid, heal and protect those in danger. It is rare to see Cassandra away from the Sphinx, let alone her being in her mortal shell. If people do see her, it’s by luck as she mostly tries to stay hidden away from the view of the mortal eyes. She keeps to herself, or stricks to her duty. Powers: Gift of Foresight Master at Spells and Tonics Can possess others and gain control of their powers/gifts Job: Guardian of the Sphinx Cassandra: She is very straight forward, due to her powers and her job. She may come off as blunt, mean and arrogant when someone makes her angry. She doesn't totally understanding the 'concept' of some human feelings/emotions as she has not experienced them herself, mostly due to the fact that she focus on her job and what the Gods Of Olympus want her to do. Cassandra has never really been privileged enough to stay away from Sphinx for long. Something always seems to come up and steals away her freedom to experience properly. Somewhere Deep down inside of her, is rather humble and just longs for the things that anyone would want. If people do meet her; in her human form away from her home/job they always seemed hypnotized by her voice and beauty. Something about her always draws people in. Even if it may be dangerous.
