Sapphire Rode - Shelter Lab
As the coyote girl slowly woke Sapphire studied her face. She was pretty if a bit odd looking. She had a word tattooed under her eye curved along her eye line. When she finally woke her hands immediately shot to her ears. As if feeling them confirmed something for her she said. "The...surgery failed...?" This all but confirmed for Sapphire what this place was made for but something was still nagging at the back of her mind. Something she wasn't seeing that should have been obvious. What part of the puzzle didn't she have? After realizing who Sapphire was the scared coyote girl muttered that Sapphire had come because of her call. So this was the girl that had made the distress call, insinuating that something illegal was going on at this facility. If so then how was it that she was still a part of the program? She'd called Beacon for help, that suggested that she was not okay with what was going on here and yet she seemed disappointed with the knowledge that the surgery whatever it was meant to do had yet to commence. As Sapphire was pondering this she heard a massive sound of shattering glass. The hunter in training spun round drawing her shotguns on the newest member to the party. He was a large hulking bear faunus in a suit. Mentally Sapphire slapped herself for not realizing that the ceiling was made of a crystalline substance that allowed viewing from one side. It was a rookie mistake. She'd wanted some time alone with the coyote girl to find out exactly what was going on. Now she would have to deal with this. The bear faunus started by telling the coyote girl: Sienna, to run for it. The girl responded by almost instantly appearing at the other end of the room before she vanished into the hole in the ceiling. A yellow flash seemed to indicate that her semblance was not actual teleportation but some sort of extreme speed, not that it mattered for the moment. Sapphire had other problems to deal with. The administrator started off with a list of Swansong's crimes. Sapphire had never actually considered the legal aspect of being a hunter before. She was fairly certain that teams were exempt from criminal charges such as vandalism and assault as long as they had probable cause for any damage they might cause. She should ask Goodwitch or Ozpin about that when they returned to Beacon. The bear faunus introduced himself as Pop, obviously not his birth name but it was something to call him. Sapphire responded with her own. "Sapphire Rode, huntress in training." There was no reason to hide that fact. Who knew, if Pop had heard of her father it might intimidate him. Then again considering Janus' position on all faunus it was probably better if Pop hadn't heard of him. For all that Pop had actually said it was maddening how little information he'd divulged. The only real things Sapphire had learned was that Pop was a boxer and the Shelter's guards were converging on the rest of her team. She should end this quickly and warn them but she couldn't resist searching for more information. Pop and Sapphire started to circle each other like two animals preparing to rip each other’s throat out. Sapphire wasn't one to make the first move unless the advantage belonged to her so instead she spoke. "Just cause I'm a huntress doesn't mean I can't be civil. Care to elaborate on what exactly it is you’re doing here? Of course I've got my own ideas and if I'm right then it's actually noble, wanting to help people find their place in the world but it has the potential to spin out of control and become something violent and unpredictable very quickly. Then again I don't have any solid proof of my theories so why don't you tell me a little bit more and we make sure I'm not beating you to a pulp over a misunderstanding. Besides, if this operation is truly a legal humanitarian effort then Beacon has no jurisdiction and my team will be on our way." As Sapphire said this she was calculating in her head the shortest length of time it would take her to pull out her scroll and fire off a message to the others before Pop could act. Two seconds to get it out. Another two to address the message since she had her team set as default recipient. The message itself was the real problem. It would have to be short, before Pop could destroy the scroll or attack her. Something like 'guards coming hide' would get the idea across clearly even if it wasn't very elegant. "What do you say Pop, why don't we make sure we're fighting for the right reasons here?"
