He is not afraid to give his life and fully expects to die in combat. However, this does not deter him from being cheerful although he despises when people use "dishonorable ways" to win a fight, believing all battles should be fought on equal grounds. Ironically, he uses a matchlock, a very "dishonorable" weapon for a samurai to use in his age, showing that he is hypocritical sometimes. While he holds himself high due to the position of samurai in feudal Japanese society, he looks down on people who have lack useful skills in war, having respect for people like blacksmiths and strategists while have the utmost respect for warriors who fight for honor. He is a heavy believer in the idea of creating one's destiny and finds the notion of religion and God to be useless and tends to be headstrong because of this, always trying to prove himself. Backstory Kenshi was born into the Minamoto family that owned a respectable amount of land in Owari province and was legendary sword fighters who could claim they were the best swordsmen in eastern Japan. He was the third oldest boy and the fourth oldest in general. All of his siblings and him were taught to fight with his brothers training in the use of the katana and the no-dachi while his sisters were given instruction on the naginata. He, like the rest of his brothers, would be recruited by the Oda clan to fight where he was exposed to guns for the first time. Despite going against the code of Bushido he had been raised on, the favored the gun over his sword. Despite the inaccuracy of the matchlock, he seemed to have been granted by the gods to use it, being the best shots in the entire Oda army. He is still an incredible swordsman however due to his family's genetics and intensive training when he was younger. With his new found confidence in his gun skill, he felt as if he could kill anyone in a single shot, no matter if they were five feet in front of him or five hundred. In the battle of Anegawa, he nearly met his end, just moving seconds before his unit was peppered with arrows and several of them landed right in front of him. He felt as if something incredible happened. He would survive the battle and the war, going on to serve the Tokugawa Shogunate as a local official in Owari. However, in another version, he failed to react in time during the battle of Anegawa andwas peppered by arrows. In his last dying breath, he reached towards the sky, and was taken from his time period and given a new chance at life and the ability to go on a journey of epic proportions that went far beyond the west.
