However, our economic situation is looking grim. The depression unleashed in Britain has hit us hard and ressources are not arriving as planned. This is why we must widen our focus to the rest of the world. Our new goverment just sent a request to negotiate a trade agreement with Japan. We also have to look at getting more workforce in our country so that we can grow independent from the economy of our motherland Great Britain. This is why I am planning to attract more immigrants into our country. The latest advancements in our society allow me to finally heed the pleads of my people to give them full and equal rights as every other inhabitant of New Zealand so that they, as well, can feel proud to live here. Sure will this step unveil new challenges, but with the help of you, the citizens of this marvelous country, all that will be remembered by future generations, are what we make of it. As we took our country's fate into our hands more than ever before, all we can do now, is to wait and hope, that our motherland solves their economic issues and we may get onto greener pastures. Noho ora mai, Aotearoa! Goodbye and stay well, New Zealand! Sir James Carroll / Timi Kara, new prime minister of New Zealand in his inauguartion speech on the 20th of July 1914
