I love the idea of having an all powerful mage on board, and would be ecstatic to have you aboard. 

My idea of magic isn't anything super solid just yet, but I'd be happy to discuss it with you. Generally, it is an artform - Sorcerers are born with the innate ability of manipulating the elements around them. There are different schools of the weave - illusionary, conjuration, shape shifting may even be possible. Wizards would have the ability to wield such powers, but it would take much study and incantations. I know it's a bit all over the place, but I'm sure I can come up with something concrete if you wouldn't mind helping out :)
