Hmm I was thinking about something like an oathbound Kensai, perhaps one who was bound to a lord (or other some such person) who is ether against the Cleric/Paladin's alignment or is using them in some way, but do to the oath the Kensai cant do much to stop them? I could also twist the character into a Cleric or a Paladin fairly easily if it fits better.

Not sure how well Samurai / Kensai would fit into this setting. We'd need a kingdom that somehow developed that culture against everyone else. You'd have to pull that off first probably, haha... as for being a cleric or paladin, I'm sure you can have fun with the gods, though clerics and paladins might not exist the same way as you might think. Religion isn't so organized in this setting. ^.^
