The Opening "Welcome new students, to Altor City! The city where you will spend your next few years training to protect your own cities, friends and families. I am Nathaniel Rhodes, dean of the first year section of the school. As you should most likely know by now, the first year campus is on the South side of the schooling center, located in the middle of Altor City. As chairman, I'd like to tell you that we are glad all of you have taken the initiative that you have to protect your fellow human beings from the dangers that lurk throughout the planet. As today is your first day of schooling, we will start with a lesson. As you've learned many times through out the years, you most pay mind to your mana usage. It's a lesson told constantly through schooling for good reason. Overuse of your mana can lead to damage of your own body, or in some serious cases, death. Through focus, you can regenerate mana. We've learned over centuries of training that through focusing on your physical attacks with a sword, or whatever weapon you are best with, you can regenerate mana while still being effective in combat. We encourage everyone to train in both the art of magic usage and melee weapons as a protector. I, personally, have witnessed deaths and serious injuries caused by over usage of mana. I hope that none of you make the same mistake. Moving on; as you arrived you were giving all the equipment you will need to start your training here. There are custom shops for weaponry as well as armor in the market district of the city, which is on the North side of the city. If you have money, feel free to get upgrades as well as new armor with the money you have to spend, just remember to spend your money wisely. Coming onto the subject of money, each mission you do for us will pay, along with any loot you may recover. Just like a job as a city protector would do. However, unlike a protector job, we give you money to spend on food each month while you reside in the city. Spend that money wisely, or you will have to pay out of pocket to feed yourself. Just as it is anywhere else on Earth, money must be budgeted and spent carefully. Onto the next subject; your entry exams helped us to place you in teams. You will be living with your teammates for the next few years. You will advance as a team and graduate as a team. Expect to be with your team mates every single day for a long time, so please, get along with each other the best you can. Housing is provided, and you will head straight to your homes as soon as my opening statement is over. I'd like to leave today by telling you how thankful I am for all of you. A job as a protector is not easy. Many of you die everyday to keep our cities safe. Being a protector doesn't pay well, is filled with danger, but is the most noble job there is. It most certainly takes the most skill, and we're all thankful to have you all. Over the years we've seen the number of students coming in to be protectors gradually rise. Last year's number of new coming students was a great 166 students. This year I am proud to announce that we have 225 students registered! That number is phenomenal to us, and we thank you all! We wish you all a great time here in Altor City. You are free to leave to your housing now." Altor City ~The Center District~ In the center of Altor City is the school. The school is the main structure and everything is based around it. The South end of the school is the first year campus. The west is where second year students take their classes. The North is for the third year students. The East is where the fourth year students will be as that is the last year of training for Altor City, and where most of the student housing is. ~The North District~ North of the center is where the markets are. This is filled with many shops for clothing, armor, armor upgrades, armor repair, weapons, weapon upgrades, weapons repairs, food, and other miscellaneous items. ~The South District~ South of the center is where most businesses reside. Most of which are workshops and factories that bring in money for Altor City. Students aren't allowed in these buildings without permission, however are encouraged to use the buildings to train. Jumping from wall to wall, climbing, and things such as that are the main reason students come to that section. Of course, some students apply to work in the factories on school days after class is over for extra money. ~The West District~ West of the center is where most families live. There are a few school houses, and some students rent their own homes to live in after they graduate, but the general population of the west district consists of factory workers and business owners. ~The East District~ East of the center is student housing. School workers live in the housing units closes to the school, but the rest of the houses are where the students throughout their time in Altor City. ~North of Altor City~ To the north of the city, past the market, are mountains. As you get higher into the mountains they become cold and frozen, due to the altitude. The mountains are dangerous as they are filled with many creatures. At the base of the mountains you can find the occasional troll wandering around, and sometimes wolves. Deeper in the mountains there are caves and tunnels. Bears, giant wolves, giant serpents and even dragons can be found in these caves, or around them. Atop the mountains you can find wyvern and large ice dragons. The top of the mountains are the most dangerous creatures, and very few who have battled with anything atop the mountains and come back alive. Those who have, however, came back to be very rich from all of the loot collected. ~South of Altor City~ To the south of the city, past the factories, is a large desert. This area isn't known for being dangerous, however, it can be. While there isn't much to loot in the desert, one can come across a large sand serpent. You may also stumble across giant scorpions or even a massive sand worms. Fortunately, these creatures are generally slow. ~West of Altor City~ To the west, past the houses, is a massive forest. The forest is dangerous for it's density. Inside these trees are wolves, giant spiders, and much more. It's said that if you go deep enough into the forest, you may even find werewolves, but no one has gone that far into the forest and come back with any proof. While the forest is dense, most of the creatures inside aren't very strong, just agile. The most dangerous thing most students worry about is the venom of the giant spiders. Thus, there is a sign on the opening path to always carry antivenom. ~East of Altor City~ East of the city, past the student housing, is a large ocean. Many fisherman as the school to send students along on the trip. The sealife that can be caught far out in the ocean is very delicious and brings in a lot of money. However, there are large sea creatures that can destroy almost any ship. As the sea is hard to battle in, it is considered the most dangerous place to be, aside from the mountain peaks. There are giant squids, sharks, sea serpents, and many other creatures in the sea that have killed many protectors. That is why most fisherman only hire 4th year teams to go along. ~The Rail Train~ There are 4 trains throughout the city for each district. Each train travels from 4 points: The outer edge of the district, to the school, and two point in the center of the district at the points where it meets with another district and passengers may swap trains.
