I'm pretty sure Shelton will agree that the situation had to get [i]pretty terribad[/i] for proffessional military personel to leave live arms and ammunition behind, especially considering they'll need quite a bit of it to do thier job.

Even when traveling by car, every critical thing is in a rucksack for easy transfer to a fresh vehicle even if half the crew is killed outright.

Averted, in that the situation is pretty terribad, and even then they pretty much took all the worthwhile supplies (seriously, who cares about lugging a pistol when you've got assault-rifles and LSWs?).
