Nice to see someone used the traits and flaws along with their descriptions from my failed NRP, glad it didn't go to waste.
Location: Name: Kingdom of Brunydd Flag: Created by BullMoose1912. Capital and Major Settlements: Skali, the capital city of Brunydd. Built upon the banks of a river, it prospers by fishing trade. Aside from several gloomy gargoyle statues adorning the castle that gauntly sits on the edge of a cliff, the city is grey and seems insignificant, quiet, and eery. Ruler and Royal Family: The Beabsuggs, a noble family most famed for being quiet and completely obscure. Their king is Dirk Beabsugg. He is said to wear a set of black armor. Kingdom Traits: A web of whispers, A breaker of webs, Developed Infrastructure, Hired Killers. (Custom Trait, sneaky stabby fellows patronised by the Beabsuggs.) Military Traits: Foraging, Masters of Ambush, Good Archers, Light Armor, Trained troops. Trade Traits: Ports, Industry. Flaws: Not a flawless family 1, Beggars by day, Brigands by night. Tainted Bloodline. (Custom Flaw. The dynasty has had many a chief with questionable sanity.) Culture: An elderly, bloated kingdom with a bleak scenery, worn out peoples and rather grotesque punishments. There's an old saying that Brunydd is so cold because half the wood goes for stakes, so thieves and bandits are to be impaled. Aside from the cruel methods of bringing justice, it is a quiet land. Men fight and rape when their blood runs hot, then settle down and marry their neighbor's daughter and live a long life raising their squabbling set of children. Farmers toil the fields, hunters hunt, and lords feast. This does not mean that there's not a deformity hidden in this tranquil and stable society. Military: The people are not many in the kingdom, and so are the levies. Rather than controlling mindless hordes of meat, the Brunydd soldiers are well trained and proficient in their weapons. The rather simple tactic of charging is replaced by the mastered art of setting up elaborate ambushes and killing enemies with projectiles and knowledge of the surroundings. The soldiers know how to sustain themselves in the chilly dark forests of their country, they know which mushroom you can eat and which berry will give you death, and can easily disperse at once when found by the enemy. They however, always focus on the defense. It was a long time that the Brunydd levies ventured outside their lands. Economy: There's little to say. Merchants pass by, pay their dues and sell their wares. The lords often deal with small branches of big trading guilds, and artisans are patronised by the nobles. Reputation: The haunting mystery that shrouds the place. The people of this kingdom are short, skinny, of pale complexion and are gaunt in their rare interactions with the folks of the outside world. History: The bricks that built the kingdom were laid by the disparate people living in the swamps and forests surrounding Brunydd. Carefully crafting and weaving whatever the kingdom is now, they were led by an old blind woman known as Ira through a devastating famine that hardened these folks and taught them the survival in their harsh habitat. After the death of the beloved Ira, her daughter was seduced and perverted by a noble named Vlad. After he deflowered her, it is said that he kept her locked in a tower, and when she gave birth he drowned her. Two of the heirs died as infants, but a sickly boy Severian survived. He had bloomed and grew strong while his father was slowly decaying the young barony of Brunydd. At the age of fourteen winters, he made off with a swaybacked steed and rode south. Vlad meanwhile, was busy drinking wine and making bastards. The kingdom was weak and crumbling. It was when Severian was thirty that he came back with an army of three thousand and laid siege to Skali. Within a day, the worthless garrison surrendered. He announced that Vlad was the murderer of Ira's daughter, the defiler of Brunydd land and a traitor, giving him over to the crowd so they would do justice. Severian's father was put on a spike and endured agony for days. Severian's reign saw Brunydd strengthened, and he had a great heir, but he died after six years of rule. His heir did not last long on the throne, and was soon replaced by his cousin, Dirk. Dirk is a man of forty years. He lost his nose during a spar, has had three wives so far, and wears black plate whenever he ventures out to his domain. Misc: I'd love to have similarly themed vassals - gothic and creepy.
