I'm considering whether Soren would, out of a desire to be nice, progress upwards so he doesn't send higher-ranked players down when he wins, or just find the nearest highly-ranked player and play against them so he can get the information he needs.

EDIT: Of course, whichever he chooses, you can be sure that he will just happen to hit upon a person who has important information, because lovely coincidences.
