[i]It would seem advantageous for those just beginning their study of the High Art to have a single compendium of knowledge from which to acquaint themselves with the history, geography, peoples, fauna, flora and spirits of the World. The creation of such a tome, in which all possible topics are dealt with- albiet superficially- has occupied me for several decades, and I am pleased to present the (still incomplete) fruit of my labors in this, the twenty third edition of my work. My travels in the distant lands of the failing Hegemony and study of ancient pre-Vraxian texts have allowed greater detail to be added to the relevant sections of this book, but more- as ever- remains to be done. It is my wish that this book, for all its obvious deficiencies, will serve as a first step on the arduous road to Wisdom for many, and play its part in dispelling the mythologies and corruptions of mind which have always held sway over the majority of men.[/i]
