Luca has a naturally androgynous build – flat-chested and skinny with broad shoulders. With short, dark blonde hair that grows out wildly and long eyelashes, she's not an unattractive girl, just strange for the 1970s. Pale skin is discoloured in asymmetrical patches (her forehead, her left cheek) but she makes no effort to cover it up. It's nothing more than a quirk of biology.
Ability / Power / Creature
Luca is the descendant of a long line of magicians and Tricksters (in recent memory her father, grandfather and great-grandfather) and while whatever quantity X that resides in her blood is unknown, it certainly does allow her to do inhuman things. Things like magic. There are no fireballs or sparks, though it may certainly appear that way. Luca can create illusions – from something as simple as pulling a rabbit out of a hat to making you believe the card she's showing you is one you picked not thirty seconds before out of a pile. Her slight of hand and reaction times are unnaturally quick and the way her mind works is profoundly not normal.
Personality
Quiet. Luca is nervous around people in most situations, especially strangers, as if she is not quite sure whether someone is picking fun at her or not even in neutral, normal conversation. She is slow to trust in a "once bitten, twice shy" scenario and so to others she seems quirky, not herself. One thing she does not have though is stage fright. When performing anything her stutter dims as she seems almost entirely focused on her craft and entertaining others. A born performer, but not much outside of that. Luca is also fiercely intelligent. She is zany, strange and what she produces in class reflects that. She gives her English and Art teachers headaches with the perfect nonsense. She approaches nothing cold and clinically, not even maths and likes to defy expectations, even if she doesn't like the repercussions of not doing something the way she is told. Luca also doesn't quite realise that she has a power yet and is a bit lacking in common sense.
Biography
An only child born into a huge family, Luca wasn't often lonely as a kid. While she had no brothers or sisters, she had all manner of joker uncles and con-men cousins to talk to and be corrupted by. She learned magic from them, and from old video tapes and books, and before she could tie her shoelaces she could shuffle a deck and perform the whole, "Pick a card, pick any card!" spiel. But she was bullied terribly. No friends, just family. School was dire for her, a girl who refused to wear skirts or do anything with her hair except chop it all off. A girl who liked to read in little nooks and crannies of mythology and magic, and often tried to impress with her card tricks but failed if only because nobody wanted to watch them. Luca grew accustomed to standing alone, since it hurt less than being rejected. Luca's family, no matter how awe-inspiring their performances were or how good they were at tricking others, were dirt poor, living in cramped apartments filled with love. Still, they knew for a fact that the youngest of them would get her letter from Northwood. The Agnelli lineage is one that has marked the school's halls for decades if not over a century with her father and grandfather both having attended during their youth.
