The tech level can be as advanced as steampunk, though that is pretty rare to see. Magic can be very destructive, meaning you could destroy a whole ship with a single spell, but there are also very strong protective spells which yo will see more often.

[@Rin] True that the One Piece craziness is fun, if it generates more interest, than i'll be fine with it. If there is interest in that sort of power, we could always replace devil fruit people with magic.
