I was refering to Willy Vereb. Now, i'm going to dive into details about the whole shielding system, and FTL. Hard light refers to photons which are not moving very much, therefor solid. Humanity has plasma-based force-fields, as in they use the forth state of matter to provide a defensive barrier. It's really just a fancy trick with magnets, it's the same stuff in Tokamak reactors really.
I thought we are more or less free to describe what our ships can do. Can you give me a quick rundown on what technology we use, then? And my example with plasma weapons was that they don't splash all over the place like a futuristic flamethrower but form a "heat bullet" to be projected for distance. But if the current technology appears to use only Em fields and maybe plasma barriers then yeah, hard light is beyond your capacity. and nah, hard light never meant freezing photons in place. To begin with that doesn't even make much scientific sense. It's basically just another way to say you create solid structures formed of energy, so in short they are the product of precisely manipulating forcefields. EDIT: Anyways, dibs on the Destroyer spot. Just tell me how large a Destroyer-type ship is supposed to be here. Let's say I make a "stealth destroyer".
