Setting the stage "Look here, dearie, you have the proper paperwork, right?" An old, heavyset lady with a large mole on her forehead said to the young girl standing before her in the Tokyo magical girl registration office. Her chair creaked as she leaned backwards, shoving her glasses from the tip of her nose up to her beady eyes as she examined the papers handed to her, the girl standing on tip toes just to reach her. For a place sure to get a ton of young girls passing through, they sure didn't make it easy for those of their size. "Background check...references...resume...physical exam...eye exam..." the fat lady rattles off, shuffling through the huge stack of documentation and stamping certain pages as needed. "...flying permit..." she continued as the line of girls waiting behind her fidgeted around impatiently. "...concealed magical weapon permit...alright, looks like you remembered everything! Wow, that's impressive. Now step right over there, sweetie, and get your picture taken for the license. Then..." The rest of the explanation was a blur, but it all paid off in the end when she got her magical girl license! Now she could have a blast roaming the streets, flying around, and picking fights with deadly monsters to save the day...right? Right?! Nope. This is the real world and not everything works out like how anime portrays. I swear, those anime shows were just propaganda through and through... Important Info This is a realistic magical girl roleplay as our characters mainly work for the 4th Tokyo Magical Girl Peacekeeping Department (TMGPD) and their friends/associates such as magical girls from an American department if desired. Basically, magical girls have way too much freedom to do whatever they want in anime, while in real life they'd undeniably be bound by a whole lot of red tape. Just like police work, most assignments don't end in dramatic battles, and if they do occur then expect a whole lot of paperwork to follow. Monsters and magic do exist but they're now considered quite mundane, a magical girl hardly getting a passing glance anymore as people are more interested in looking at their phones. In the event of a rare monster sighting then a magical girl may be called in as needed, but this is not the focus of this roleplay. This roleplay deals with the comically mundane misadventures that we, as magical girls and friends, will face. Maybe we think it's a monster but it's actually just a dog that got lost and tore up a garden looking for a place to go to the bathroom. Maybe we get hired to fly up and get a cat out of a tree. Maybe we have to direct road traffic with our magical light signals. Who knows what assignments we'll get placed in as low ranking magical girls? This roleplay should be funny but at the expense of our character's boredom and goofing off trying to get some amusement out of their jobs. Although realistic, we're not going for any sad realism, so I'd prefer no dramatic back stories and moping around all day. Some dark humor is allowed, however, such as our characters all dying due to goofing off at the end of the roleplay, if things come to that. A lot of this roleplay might be simple slice of life antics as our characters chat at the office while filing paperwork. Your character's "resume" (character sheet) can be in any format you desire and doesn't even have to be posted but would be handy so we know who's who. Magical guy characters are possible but very rare and likely made fun of, especially due to magical girl uniforms always of the feminine variety. You don't have to be a magical girl/guy if you don't want to. This roleplay is just a side project so not my main focus, but feel free to get as involved with this as you guys want and have fun!
