Since you say that a megaton is a stupid amount of energy, I have to tell you that [b]your in total 4.5 YW power generators produce above a billion megatons of TNT worth energy every second[/b].
Putting plasma into a shape for a shielding is generally a wasteful idea unless you have some unique design in mind so of course it'd require lots of energy.
Unless you wish to stop 120mm high-relativistic shells with it, I think you can still get away with less than yottawatts of energy.
Another issue is that if you literally need millions of times more energy to protect your ship then it's a terribly bad design to begin with.
Worse, your flimsy power cables effectively have better durability than this shield, then.
So it's better to ignore such issues, especially because as you said we are here to have fun.
