DADDY LIBERTY
Daddy Liberty, a human with literally a demon bound to his soul. He struggles daily both existentially and physically as his body and mind are torn asunder by a demon. In order to maintain his status as living, and his consciousness his own, Daddy Liberty must fight constantly in order to feed the demon and keep it satisfied. Name: CPL James Robert Vice] Age: 21 Race: Human Bio: James Robert Vice, sometimes Jim or Jim-Bob as his family calls him, was born and raised in what would best be described as a "white-trash" family in Northern Florida. He grew up in a trailer with his parents, his older brother, and his younger two sisters. As the "middle child" of the family, Jim or sometimes Jim-Bob was often neglected. He was too old for hand-me-downs but too young to get his own things. Most of what Jim had, he had to make for himself. His father was a raging alcoholic, but was often too busy with his factory job to be at home to abuse his children. Jim's mother worked at a local diner and did not come home until even after Jim's father. Jim was left often to the mercy of his neighborhood. In his childhood, Jim had a handful of close friends that he thought he got along with. None of them were really significant enough for their names to actually be remembered, though Jim, even at a young age, was not very sentimental. All he could recall was having a lot of fun. What he actually played and all the cartoons he had watched, however, were but a distant memory. There was a time where an alligator wandered onto his trailer park during the day time. Jim-Bob's uncle shot the alligator with his shot gun. Jim remembered eating quite well that afternoon. Jim's education was as good as one could get as a poor child growing up in the South. Jim didn't work particularly hard. In his teenage years, he recalled having a fairly pessimistic outlook on life. The friends he had as a child had been gone his entire high school career. Then, he was a loner. Jim had no talents to speak of, though he never had the opportunity to really discover them. Jim hung out inside the room of his Freshman year homeroom teacher. At first, it was due to a detention. Eventually, he just grew comfortable there thanks to all the quiet. Jim didn't talk too often with his teacher. Sometimes the teacher would try to poke some personal information to try and understand Jim more. In response, Jim would try to weave some sort of distraction in order to excuse himself from divulging too much of his personal life. Jim hadn't actually too much to hide. This continued until his Junior year when the teacher was eventually fired and had to find work elsewhere. When graduation came, Jim had no real choices. His scores were far too deplorable to actually be accepted into any good university, and he wasn't athletic enough to get any sports scholarships either. Then, Jim's choices were either work or the military. Jim's choice was soon sealed when a recruiter arrived at his school. He wasn't particular enamored by any of the flashy things any of the branches showed off- Jim was more interested in the benefits. Jim chose the army, hoping that he would be lost among all the grunts. Heaven forbid Jim would have to stand out. Jim's primary MOS was 11B, or before he shipped off, 11X. His recruiters seemed to make a big deal out of it. His GT score wasn't impressive, but that didn't matter. It was in the winter that Jim shipped off. He spent a week at reception, a week that he would later refer as the "worst week of his life". That was until worse ones came of course. His first day in training began waking up for a fireguard shift at 0200 in the morning. He was, at that point, one of the few responsible enough to be intrusted with some else's work. Jim was never compensated for it. When he finished, he waited three hours in the freezing cold, before finally, the drill sergeants came. His bus ride between reception and the company were the last few minutes of rest before the gauntlet came. Looking back, his training wasn't so hard. In fact, it was quite fun firing all his weapons. Walking a long ways, even with what was more or less 60 pounds of equipment, wasn't nearly as hard as he first thought. Of course, everything was trained up. Airborne school was even easier. Ranger school was naturally difficult. Jim made it through nonetheless. Jim's first deployment was to Iraq. By then, he was Specialist Vice. Jim's deployment was easy up until the last mission returning to the FOB. His team was hit by an IED. Thanks to the medic, everyone survived. Jim went on with minimal injuries. Jim's next deployment was not for another year. Then, he was was Corporal Vice. A little peeved at his lateral promotion, Vice's problems had only just begun. His next deployment also began rather uneventfully. Two months in, however, his FOB was hit by a mortar strike. Explosives seemed to rain down as the sand was covered in red- the enemy had been firing their own out of catapults strapped with explosives. That day, it rained blood. Jim's sympathetic nervous system was trained by then. He went out in the fray and began firing back. When he ran out of .50 cal ammo, he used an M240B. When he ran out of 7.62, he moved onto an M249. When he ran out of belts, Jim moved onto using his own issued M4. When he ran out of 5.56, he moved onto his own issued M9. Almost single handedly, Jim had fended off a terrorist attack. Shortly after the incident, Jim's deployment was cut short. He was given a bronze star with valor- unusual for his rank. With his award, Jim was sent home, the only survivor. Alone, Jim sat in his barracks room, rifle in hand. He had been cleaning it for a while. Jim wanted to get the feeling out of his head, but still couldn't shake it. The doors were locked, and in spite of the constant knocking and sound of people congratulating him, Jim did not exit. He had been obsessing over depressing music for a while. Most of his earthly belongings, he had already given away on Craigslist. The only thing left for him was to end it all. Jim soon reached for a magazine loaded with only one round. Name: Lenimetus Age: Roughly 1900 Race: Demon When he was a human, Lenimetus was a great soldier. He was one of many who fought for his nation's safety before finally falling in combat, hit by a stray arrow. This is at least as much as Lenimetus could remember. When he descended as low as he did, Lenimetus did not argue or try to bargain. He knew the consequences of his actions, even if he did do so for what might be considered "noble causes". As he lived a full life, Lenimetus decided he may also want to live a full death. First, however, he closed his eyes for what was to come. Once a hardened body, Lenimetus was put through a crucible of torture each one more painful than the last. The first, Lenimetus was capable of handling. After all, his training had been much worse. The rest, however, had shown the fallen soul a completely new world of pain. It was through this pain that a new demon was forged. No longer was Lenimetus a mere human. His skin turned pitch black as did his eyes. He grew horns of gold and his once blonde hair had become bleach white. As a demon, however, he was weak. Lenimetus was reborn as a pride demon, though the means in which he gains power are somewhat fitting. Easily put, Lenimetus feeds off the emotions generated during wartime. He feeds off strife, he feeds off struggle, and he feeds off depression. However, he had only been able to do so as he fought other demons. With no human vessel, Lenimetus was not capable of joining again in other wars. He was unable to grow in power. With this in mind, Lenimetus bid his time until it was just right. Soon enough, he sent his spirit to the human world, and found an appropriate host in a war tested veteran. On the verge of suicide, the human's psyche was weak. In that moment, Lenimetus entered the human's body with little effort. There was, however, just one problem. As the demon Lenimetus entered through Jim's mouth, Jim had begun to come to his senses again. He struggled for a second before mustering up the strength to point his rifle at his own head. Without even thinking, Jim pulled the trigger, halting the assimilation process. When the shot was fired, people began to exit their rooms. There was pounding on Jim's door. Jim had already pulled the trigger on himself, and the shot should have killed him. However, the demon had taken the brunt of the force. The demon had somewhat successfully infiltrated the human's body, but lost a significant amount of power. At that point, Lenimetus had control of Jim's body. He could not draw so much attention to himself, and so he laid on the ground. Jim did not argue, instead preferring to lay there, feigning his own death. His body, then already mostly dead and in addition mostly demon, lacked the vital signs of any normal creature. Faking death was easy. In the weeks it took for Jim's body to be buried, he and the demon argued. Lenimetus, having gained a sharp tongue, used his powers to make a pact with the boy. Lenimetus needed energy, and to do so, had to continue fighting. In exchange for fighting for the demon, and thus feeding the demon, Jim would continue to have his body and the ability to live. It was a win-win as they both cheated death. When the final patch of dirt was lain, Lenimetus had regenerated Jim's face. Due to his demonic energy, however, Jim's face returned in a more demonic fashion. It looked deformed and short, asymmetrical horns protruded from the sides of his head. Jim could not fight in his own army again- he could not risk himself or any of his fellow soldiers. Using the demon's powers, Jim stole several weapons before fleeing the scene. Lenimetus, in his boredom as well as to test his new found abilities, decided to thrust himself along with his host into a different dimension. From there, the journey of Daddy Liberty truly began. Equipment:
Freedom Main: An M16 A4 with mounted bayonet. It is, for the most part, a normal M16 with selective fire, a rear sight aperture, and colored black. Jim has had this same rifle since he stole it from the armory so many years ago. It fires 5.56mm NATO rounds, however, in the absence of ammo, Jim is able to use Lenimetus' powers to fire shots of dark energy which have about a comparable speed and power to 5.56. It has a fixed bayonet which reaches five inches from the barrel. Jim cleans his rifle religiously. Lady Liberty: An M4 A1. Lady Liberty was the rifle Jim was issued, as well as the one he shot himself with. It is comparable to his M16, but shorter and without three-round burst. Due to the strong emotions associated with Lady Liberty, the bullets fly faster and hit harder than a normal M4. Lady Liberty is also attached with an M203 grenade launcher which fires M67 fragmentation grenades. Uncle Sam the Justice: An M240B and Jim's weapon of choice. While it is meant to be a crew serve, Jim's augmented strength allows him to use it the same way one would be able to use a normal assault rifle. Jim carries a spare barrel on him. The barrels must constantly be switched, otherwise the weapon risks overheating and thus malfunctioning. Liquid Freedom: An IV bag filled with 500 ml of magic whiskey. Its affects allow the user to clear his mind when taken orally. When taken intravenously, it stimulates the sympathetic nerves giving the user enhanced strength and reflexes. If taken anally, a dose of at least 300 ml, the user falls into a deep sleep where he utilizes an increased amount of his body's energy in order to heal. The IV bag refills every day at exactly 0200 in the morning. Ammunition: At all times, Jim is prepared with seven 30-round magazines of 5.56mm NATO ammunition, and two 200-round belts of 7.62mm NATO. He also carries four M67 fragmentation grenades. Mask: A mask fashioned out of solid steel into the shape of a Punisher skull. The skull is painted over with the American flag. Apart from face protection and concealing Jim's deformities, it has no real use in combat.
Powers:
Demon Strength: Augmented by the demon living inside of him, Jim is capable of exerting ten times the force an average human can, capable of lifting two tons for a period of twenty minutes. His endurance is also superhuman, allowing him to run long distances, over 100 miles without tiring while in full gear. Jim's pain tolerance and speed, however, are still about average human levels. Freedom's Wings: The ability to summon a giant eagle. Once a demonic tool of Lenimetus, Jim's spirit changed the beast into a symbol of freedom. The eagle is capable of carrying one person up to 300 pounds on its back, and can fly continuously for almost 10,000 miles without stopping, at a speed of up to 120 mph. When called upon, Freedom's Wings takes ten minutes to respond and appear. If it sustains enough damage that it would be near death, the eagle vanishes in a veil of plumes not to be seen for another week. Regeneration: While nothing to brag about, using the power of Lenimetus, Jim is capable of slowly and painfully regenerating an organ. This is a conscious effort on Jim's part, as he is forcing Lenimetus's demonic energy and attempting to shape it into a more human form. The main use is stopping superficial wounds as well as encouraging the creation of clotting factors on not-so-superficial wounds so as to simply stop bleeding. Should Jim not take the concious effort, Lenimetus would take over and make the aforementioned part less human, and thus less appealing to Jim. This is, however, much faster than simply taking control.
