The Legion controls most of the American Southwest, possibly including Texas. Though what Raul says in NV suggests they're ambivalent towards traders, I'd probably assume any immigrants from New Vegas or California would be caught and mudstomped in short order. I think my guy will come through Texas on his journey east.

Even if Caesar and all his little buddies were massacred at The Fort and Hoover Dam, there'd still be a [i]massive[/i] power base throughout the Southwest. Worst-case scenario The Legion fractures under the power vacuum and any travelers now have to contend with several [i]massive[/i] military groups formed out of the remains of Caesar's Legion, each trying to become the [i]true[/i] Legion.
