Okay, thanks for the clarification. I'm thinking then that Elara should be handling the flames on the ship (with the help of a crystal) while Rei should probably be dealing with the pyurgist on the other ship, especially given the fact that if she took the ferrum into herself she'd need to let it out again quickly (and preferably not on the same ship that was just having issues with fire). I'll make the necessary changes to my post shortly.
