I hated Dark Souls. The setting and world and design of some creatures was just... not very interesting to me. But I'm sure the games are good. But when a game doesn't catch my imagination with its setting and characters, I usually don't like it.
The setting and characters are rather interesting BUT they're introduced in a totally unique way. Like.... there are no books, movies, plays, or whatever capable of telling a story the way the Souls series does. The lore is like crazy deep and you don't get to experience any of it unless you dig way deep. It's there -- but you have to work for it. It's great. Instead of having an NPC stand outside Blighttown and tell you "Hey, watch out, the villagers all left because this area has PLAGUE and it's a bleak situation!" It just kicks you into Blighttown and you fucking learn. Want to know what's up with those giant spider-lady hybrids? Hope you brought your sleuthing hat. It's so cool.
