Maybe I could think of a new character, but the long, or really even short, term longetivty of them are very in question. I find sometimes that the character is more fun to create than the actual RP, or the concept of the RP.
I think generally from RP to RP anyone's worst enemy is doing the same thing over and over again in new settings. You end up with dead lifeless characters because you're just creating pale copies of some awesome idea you had awhile back. I'll admit I'm guilty of this. I've got a file on my computer of all the CS I've created since joining this site. There's about twenty of them and looking back threw them I realized that sixteen out of the twenty are girls and about half of those had abusive childhoods and grew up to be hard strong women who could look after themselves and didn't need anyone else yet under all that armor wished for someone to see them as they really were. I was sort of stuck in a rut for awhile. It was easy to write cause the characters didn't have to take crap from anyone and they could get out of danger mostly unharmed but remaking the same character over and over again they begin to stagnate, the next one worse than that last cause you're just recreating an old idea that was meant for a different world. Take a look at some of your past CSs if you start to spot commonalities between them then reverse them. If you favor strong characters create someone vulnerable, if you favor loners make a social character. Do something completely different and you'll find that the character is far more fun and more alive than anything you've been writing before. Like in this RP, as I said I'm used to playing strong people who are always in control. So I created a character who's got strong attributes but has no control over her abilities what so ever. Someone who can be hurt by words easily and doesn't know how to hide it. Someone who tends to run away from problems instead of facing them and buckles when faced with argument. Completely opposite of what I usually do. Oh and I also gave her a mostly happy childhood which for my characters is pretty new. And I'm finding that Syrena is a lot more alive than any of the characters for RPs I've done recently and I'm looking forward to the start of this with a song in my heart and a smile on my lips. Try something new, you might surprise yourself with how much you enjoy it.
