This is an RP set in the pokèmon world several centuries after the current era. A great cataclysm, no longer remembered except in a few surviving texts [it was in fact the weapon in Kalos], had rocked the foundations of human civilization - over the following centuries the kingdoms of Man rescinded into the wilds and Pokemon gradually rose into the mold that human society had cast for them. It's widely thought that the last men died over a hundred years ago. It's a medieval fantasy setting with pokemon and all the staples of the genre. It's a low-magic era, where pokemon raised in civilization do not usually harness their powers the way of wild pokemon before the cataclysm - they instead learn to farm and barter and fight with weapons of timber and steel. Typically, those with more than a rudimentary ability with their power are taken away to be tutored (or are very heavily discouraged from continuing their practice...) Premise: The game will start in the Grand Kingdom of Moere - a largely Germanic region - at the castle Schwarzenburg, nestled on a sluggish bend east of the Rhine just south of modern-day Manheim. Lower Moere is up in arms and the King has responded with the full might of his army. Already a dozen uncooperative villages have been burned to the ground, and the castle stands as the lynch-pin of the east - if she can hold, perhaps she can buy time for the haphazard rebellion to pull itself together.
While ancient [modern] technology is known in fables, and artifacts exist as evidence of the old ways, accessible technology is in line with that of the later iron age and medieval era. Ironwork is widespread, and steel can be had for a premium. We've got such technological wonders as wheelbarrows, spectacles, the spinning wheel, mirrors, windmills, mechanical artillery, universities, and three-field crop rotation...

The abilities and powers that were considered natural to pokemon in the pre-cataclysm era are today held in higher esteem; they're studied and recorded in a system that's one part science, one part superstitious mysticism, and one part theology. The nature of magic is a fluid and difficult thing to understand, and access to this information is tightly controlled - commoners aren't allowed to simply start experimenting. That said, literacy is low enough that even if some of these quasi-sacred texts did fall into the hands of the peasantry, it wouldn't likely lead to any wide-scale change. Use of various forms of magic is taught by professional institutions, academia, and the military - each requiring licensure by the ruling class to disseminate such teachings in a responsible manner to suitable individuals, typically for a dizzying price.

TBD. Known: ties into the common view of magic and takes an elemental/multitheist slant.

Moere: The predominant kingdom spanning the regions that had been modern-day Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and northern Germany - its borders largely hugging the Rhine until they spill over its banks in the southern provinces, reaching as far as Nuremburg. The nobility speaks the old human's German language. Lower Moere: A rebellion has gained traction in the southern end of the Kingdom, whose prominent figures have declared a new state. They seek control over all land East of the Rhine, and displaced peoples from across Moere flock here to join the rebellion...

King Veske: Species: Pidgeot Veske, King of Moere, has a fearsome reputation. His name, if spoken at all, is oft taken in hushed tones and in breath with allusions to his terrible grace. It is a reputation cultivated over decades of conquest - he's said to be more warlord than King. But in person he's said to have a breathtaking personal magnetism...
There's much more to be written, but this is a setting I've been playing with for a while - roleplaying in, even, in private environments - and I wanted build in it with a proper game! I'm open to suggestions in terms of story and setting details, but for the moment, let's see if anybody's interested before I go to the trouble of writing it all out~. We can take either side of the war, but all the players should be on the same side because I don't want to have to run multiple parties. xD.
