Maybe Because they're the fucking MILITARY?! They have guns! They won't worry
About some small arms a friggn' CQB rifle and a battle rifle. EVEN IF IT'S AGAINST THE RULE BOOK! They won't use the same rules agains't the walking dead. Do you know how much would they weight? Soilders should not be encumbered, especialy when they could get outran by enemy they can't even hit in the head *ahem* walking dead*ahem*
