Ash is of an average height, approximately 5ft 9in, and  he is a muscular, but slender, looking guy who appears to be in good physical condition. His hair is jet black and he has longer bangs that hang slightly over the left side of his face; his eyes are a brilliant icy blue and are piercing in appearance when Ash stares at someone or has direct eye contact with someone.
He wears lightweight upper arm armor on each arm with black fingerless gloves that go up to his shoulders; under a dark protective leather vest he wears a black sleeveless, long necked, wool shirt. The shirt is tucked into a pair of forest green pants that have protective metal leg coverings that use straps to stay attached to his legs. The pants come down and are tucked into a pair of dark leather traveling boots that lace up with metal clasps. Over his shoulders he wears a forest green traveling cape.
In more modern times he wears essentially the same thing without the armor and his traveling cape is a long forest green coat that comes down to his calves.

Ash isn't someone who talks a lot as he's a bit shy with people, because of this sometimes he comes off curt, blunt, rude or aggressive. Aside from his shyness though, Ash has a heart of gold and will protect someone with his life. He is protective over those he is charged to guard, and has a hard time letting them do things themselves unless they force him to let them be. He is a very serious person and has a hard time letting loose and joking around.

Spending time outside, quiet surroundings, protecting others, reading, meals with fish.

Arrogant people, lying, cats, onions.

[b]Weapons:[/b]
Fantasy/Medieval settings: A wide bladed sword at his waist. It is heavy, but because  of his years of practice with it, Ash can wield it with minimal effort.

Modern/Steampunk settings: A powerful, but short barreled shotgun that is usually in it's holster on his back. A pistol in a holster on his waist. He is a pretty accurate shot with the pistol; with the shotgun he is accurate a lot of the time, but because of the backlash from the gun sometimes his aim is off.

In both types of settings he also carries a wide blade hunting knife just in case an attacker gets too close to him or surprises him with a sneak attack.

Knight for HireXTraveling Maiden (Your Character doesn't have to be human)
Ash has been hired by a friend of your character's to travel with you and protect you as you go out traveling around the kingdom due to your friend worrying about you since there are creatures and thugs that would pray on a young lady such as yourself. Your character is perhaps some sort of shop owner, potion maker, alchemist, collecter, novice adventurer, ect. whose work/passion requires her to travel outside of her kingdom in order to collect ingredients, travel to trade items, travel to deliver your wares to others, thin out various monsters, ect.
The idea of this plot is not one single solitary adventure but many little ones perhaps leading up to a few bigger ones, where Ash travels with your character on a frequent basis. Through the traveling the two of them do, Ash begins to warm up to your character and develops feelings for her that he begins to try desperately to ignore and push away the feelings as well as trying to get some space from your character in order to sort through his thoughts. In doing this he upsets your character as they can't understand what they did wrong or what changed between the two characters.
This plot is pretty adaptable to whatever you're character's work or hobbies are. Obviously you can make your character a capable fighter, or one that has never touched a weapon before. That's completely up to you. There is room for little sub plots that don't mean anything or maybe lead up to some big plot later on in the story. I'm more than happy to discuss any ideas you might have for this story.

Vampire HunterXFemale targeted by Vampires (Your Character doesn't have to be human)
The plot for this idea is pretty flexible in the period/genre, however Ash will have access to a gun in this one so I don't want to go too historic, or so fantasy that he is not allowed a gun.
Your character is being targeted by a particular horde of Vampires for some reason. Perhaps her family blood line is from an ancient bloodline of Vampire Hunters, or perhaps she has some kind of ability that is dangerous to the vampires, I'm more than happy to discuss and plan out just why you're character is being hunted, and I'm more than willing to be open to ideas from you.
Someone, whether it's your character, a family member, or a close friend hires Ash, who has recently started making a name for himself in the vampire hunting world, to protect your character from the vampire attacks. Ash is neutral with your character in the beginning. He doesn't feel one way or another towards her, however your characters actions will shape how he begins to feel about her. If she is a spoiled princess he may not particularly like her but he will still defend her life. If she is timid and not very strong he will develop a desire to protect her and make sure she is protected at all time's. If she's a fighter and able to defend herself he will be willing to work with her as a partner and watch her back. This plot heavily relies on just WHAT kind of character your character is.
As they get closer to killing the Vampire Clan Leader, Ash has also become closer to your character and begins to develop feelings for her.
