I can see why it would be suspicious for adults to organize events for LGBT kids. Probably something the kids themselves are going to have to work out.
It's surprising how little is needed that can easily be provided. A regular, free LGBT youth group that's open to minors and young adults (including straight friends of LGBT people) for a couple of hours on a weekend only requires a room and probably a couple of actual adults to organise and take care of the legal/duty of care stuff. In return, it offers local LGBT minors and youths a confidential place safe from judgement where everybody's in the same boat and minors on the brink of sexual maturity can ask for advice* on LGBT sex and relationships (probably barely mentioned in PSHE or whatever the American equivalent is - not that an LGBT student in the closet can really approach that anyway). More likely, they'll just get to spend a couple of hours a week not worried about whether they're straight, gay, male, female, a combination thereof, or not fitting into any category. * Inb4 anybody says the internet is a better resource. Sure, there are good resources on the internet, but there are also some disastrously bad ones and people actively looking for vulnerable minors.
