Shazay Jordan, Thunderbolt City Vehicle Depot, Athas
Through the portal was what appeared to be an outdoor arboretum. Scattered between the squat houses of Thunderbolt City, small groves of beautiful fruit trees and berry bushes grew. Children played among the grasses and flowers decorating the sides of each houses. Thunderbolt City was an oasis in the wasteland that is Athas. Weaving between buildings, Shazay arrived at a small urban cul-de-sac. At the end was an unassuming sheet metal garage door. Shazay, grunting heavily, lifted the door up, and peered into the dark garage beyond. Even though the sun overhead could scour the flesh from one's bones, it still failed to penetrate the dark, magically air-conditioned rooms between the walls of Thunderbolt City's houses. Shazay turned to look at George and Frederick, and grinned widely. "Glad you guys are so willing to adapt. Aight, we got two jobs today. Both ain't for pussies, but you two ain't pussies I'm guessin'. Lemme run it down while I start Dusty up. Oh, by the way..." Shazay flipped a switch on the wall. Instantly, a hefty battery of fluorescent lights blinded the three men. When the corona of blindness faded, the hidden bounty of the garage could be seen. "This... is Dusty." It was a very muscular car. The main body appeared to be cobbled together out of a mundane pickup truck and three dozen pounds of scrap metal. In the truck's bed was an astonishingly-advanced catapult mechanism, loaded with an ominous neon green barrel. Hooked up to the front of the vehicle by aircraft cable was what appeared to be a pair of jet turbines. Shazay whistled in total admiration, and hopped into the driver's seat. He looked at Frederick and George, and winked at them. "Now, see, Dusty's the big boy 'round here. Hop on in, an' I'll give you some specs while we get outta city limits. Oh, hey. Since neither'a you are armed f'this, yer gonna want to look in the back. Mission details says we got a crate'a weapons in the back. Should be a gunmetal-gray crate in the back, looks like a treasure chest. Why don't ya root round in there, find yerself a fancy boomstick or somethin'." Shazay turned the key that had been in the ignition all this while, and rhythmically thumped Dusty's driver's-side door. With a noise somewhere between a bestial roar and a high-magnitude explosion, Dusty roared into action.
