I'm preparing Malaysian "driftwood" (it looks/acts more like bogwood to me) for a new 10gal Betta aquarium. I've been boiling it for about four hours now. I'm turning off the burner, but I'm leaving it in the hot water overnight. Why might I do this? To get rid of tannins that would stain the water. They make it look brown, Kinda like the Amazon Blackwater look. It also removes dirt and kills bacteria and any other parasite. Why am I telling you? It's incredibly boring.
