It's the same sort of idea, but it currently refers to other people's, and his own, innate abilities. I was worried about making it too overpowered if it was ALL chemical reactions (because that could quickly turn into invulnerability) so it's a little more specific right now. Perhaps as he progresses, he will be able to do more with it. 

I like the idea of a character that starts out as a supporting role and then slowly comes into his own. Since Jack's so independent, it'll be interesting to see how that impacts his character development.
