I prefer to not put people under any obligation to do things with please and thanks yous as if asking them for a favor in return.
The entire notion that has to happen for people to talk to each other is actually rather insulting.
I find it's more honest, that said I see what type of person some people are now (which was the point of me asking to get to know people, it wasn't even directed at the GMs) and will try to keep from "triggering" them if I can.
