Donna was silent for what seemed like a long time, rocking with Cat. She was almost debating about what to say, and she looked down at the girl in her arms, "There are certain things that I'd rather not think about, any more. We were young, and foolish...and they spoke of bringing Magic back to its old glory, to having a better life...To not being shunned because of what we had. It didn't matter that it was a dark guild, for the first time, I felt like I belonged...I was a powerful mage once, but I gave it all up, to walk away with Cat's father, and the prospect of a child. That was ten years ago...We thought we were safe...You don't just walk away from a dark guild, and we took precautions..." She shook her head, and hugged Cat closer, "We were happy! And then, we weren't. How could I say anything, about Cat being missing, about her being here, without alerting them? She has so much potential...and they would take that, use it.....I couldn't let it be known that she was alone..." She fell silent, rising with Cat still in her arms, "And every time I got close, the guardian would send me away. I don't have much magic anymore, and what use would I be to her, dead? If her magic killed me? I needed help..."" She trailed off
