Yeah, it is really salty, and not something you'd eat by itself. I wouldn't recommend eating it with cheese either, though that seemed to be really heavily promoted when I was younger. It tastes absolutely foul with cheese. I have noticed that American food seems to be super sweet - and us Aussies who try it seem to get sugar highs really quickly.

Fancy donuts are a staple of any English-speaking country, I think.
