Name: Shinsuke Yamada Age: 17 Sex: Male Appearance: Standing at a good 5'10" but with a sort of lankiness to his stature, Shinsuke's dark brown eyes and relatively black hair (with a few white streaks here and there) are put into heavy contrast with his pale skin, a byproduct of his lack of drive to head out into the world. As a result of his studies, Shinsuke wears a pair of glasses, half-rimmed and light, in order to correct his nearsightedness. His hair is of medium length and is usually unkempt in apperance, but it doesn't bother him much since he doesn't worry much about appearances anyhow. In terms of clothing, Shinsuke is often seen wearing a white collared T-shirt and a pair of jeans, oftentimes with a lab coat to accompany them. The one thing that stands out among this ensemble, though, is the sterling silver necklace with an emerald pendant at its center, a gift from his parents as he set out for his trip overseas. He has since refused to take it off, regardless of the situation. Along with this standard ensemble, Shinsuke also carries around an azure sling bag, within which he carries his belongings around as he travels throughout the region. His belt is equipped with six clips from which he intends to hang his Pokeballs around, and the myriad pockets on his coat often carry whatever other minor goods that he cannot fit into his pack. Personality: Shinsuke's history as a student has left him with little experience in interpersonal relationships, if any. Since most people went to Trainer School instead of studying texts as he did, he was more often than not left at home to mull over his own work and ideas. As a result, he usually appears to be cold and aloof, if only through lack of experience with others. A lack of experience with Pokemon, too, has left him innately curious about their behavior, how they act, and how they function, which occasionally leads to him getting a bit too nosy and possibly invoking the wrath of whatever Pokemon he just so happens to be bothering. In regards to people, Shinsuke is unusually polite, given how little experience he has with other people his age and lack of any sort of informality. The trait has thus made him seem like a robot to an extent, which only worsens any chance of making any lasting friendships with people (as, more often than not, they are turned away by his demeanor). However, the drive to achieve fame and glory remains strong with him, which often leads Shinsuke to try for near-perfectionism so that he may one day catch up to all of those people who started years ahead of him. Profession: Formerly a student, now a fully-fledged Pokemon Trainer. Talents: Due to his history studying (primarily) biology and medical science, Shinsuke is able to perform very rudimentary medical care for both humans and Pokemon, the former moreso than the latter. Though such treatment obviously pales in comparison to regular medical care, he is able to deal with issues such as sprains, broken bones, dislocated joints and the like if too far away from a hospital... For a while, at least. Starter Pokémon: A male Froakie with Pound, Growl, and Bubble; ability is Protean, nature is Timid. Shinsuke has taken to calling it Hanzo since their first meeting, which it has (apparently) taken a liking towards. Inventory: -A standard-issue PokeNAV, issued by Devon Corp. back in Hoenn. -15 Pokeballs and a single Quick Ball -10 Potions -Roughly P$600 in cash in his wallet -About P$1000 stored on a card, also within his wallet -Emergency medical supplies, such as rubbing alcohol, tweezers, a compress, towel, aspirin, etc.; nothing too large, such as crutches or splints, though. -Enough clothes for a 3-day trip, at most. -A sleeping bag, collapsable tent, a few packs of steel wool and two 9-volt batteries -A small pot Hometown: Sootopolis City, Hoenn Region
Unlike most trainers in Hoenn at an early age, Shinsuke decided to dedicate more time towards practical studies than journeying the world and exploring what the region had to offer. His parents, though surprised by the irregularity, didn't seem to worry too much about it. So as others his age fought amongst themselves for a chance at glory, Shinsuke was hunched over textbooks, understanding how the bodies of both humans and Pokemon worked. Of course, after a few years or so of watching his peers climb to the top and emerge victorious, Shinsuke felt a tinge of disappointment within himself. Sure, he would likely contribute to his home in the future, but... The fame and glory that lorded over him and mocked him for not pursuing the standard path in life always took whatever chances it could get to shove it in his face. As time went on, Shinsuke only found more scorn from his peers, with whom he had nothing to relate to. While they boasted on about how they captured X Pokemon or took down Y Trainer, Shinsuke could only nod his head, acting as if he could understand them. It was a foreign world to a person whose only fascination was with medical texts and how humans, not Pokemon, went about as they did, and went about his days thinking instead of training. Those days continued to pass as the children he used to see running around the city returned with new partners at their side and Shinsuke left to wonder how his life might have been different if he had taken the road more oft traveled by. That changed, however, when one day a family friend (his father's acquaintance) offered him a Froakie and a journey overseas to Sengun to make a name for himself. After all, as he put it, what good was a genius with no experience? Though he was still on the fence about the entire ordeal, his parents ended up convincing him (by the end of it all) to go out and see the world; he had done enough studying for one childhood, and he might as well start on a journey later than never.
Notes: Likes to eat meat. He'll eat anything, really, but he REALLY likes his meat.
