It would be fairly generic if it were just another psionics guy that shoots energy blasts. If he is going to be a psionic user, then I say give him some kind of unique spin. Shoot he looks like an insect. Maybe he is from a planet in which insects evolved to be the dominant species, and over time developed a form of psionics that stems from a hive mind in which things are manipulated by a mental group effort.
