For a moment Mayumi was shocked at the effectiveness of her diversionary attack. She hadn't expected to even hit the demon child, let alone kill her! The moment quickly passed though as a howling banshee swooped in from the next room, screaming in despair at the invaders. Bringing her bow around and readying an arrow to fire at the woman Mayumi was caught completely unprepared as an overgrown ophidian leapt up out of the ground straight at her. Mayumi tried to dodge back away from the beast but the monstrosity was too fast for her, its fangs sinking into her neck and coils wrapping themselves around the archer's body, dragging her down onto the floor. At first Mayumi tried to struggle against the snake's tight embrace, her hands wriggling against the smooth scales as she tried to reach for her blade, but then she realised there was no pain. Fear rushed through her at the thought of some paralysing agent already at work in her blood, numbing her senses, but as she twisted her head from side to side Mayumi could feel the fabric of her cloak rubbing against her skin. Unless the paralysing agent was very specific then it was unlikely she'd been poisoned. Closing her eyes Mayumi drew in a breath and concentrated her mind, letting her brain take command over the senses which were being fooled by the sorcery. After a second Mayumi sat upright, and reaching out called her bow back to her hand. Around her the phantasmagorical serpent's coils simply faded away as the illusion was defeated, and Mayumi wasted no time rising back up onto her feet, gazing around quickly to check on her companions' state.
