Unbeknownst to the common folk, and even their Noble peers in the royal court, the Bathory family had been host to an ancient Vampire bloodline for centuries. When Elizabeth was barely more than thirteen years old she became the Countess and head of her family after tearing out her own father's heart and devouring it. She was an ambitious and passionate young woman and would allow nothing to stand between her and the heights of power that she wished to reach. Unfortunately for the young ladies of Hungary, Elizabeth discovered a particular taste for the blood of youthful maidens and throughout her bloody rule, hundreds died at her hands. In time the rumors of the evil within the Bathory bloodline spread throughout the land and, while no one could prove anything, the people whispered of Elizabeth's true nature. Finally these whispers reached the ears of a clan of Hunters and Elizabeth finally learned what it felt like to be prey. When the Hunters invaded Csejte Castle, her seat of power, Elizabeth was forced to flee, leaving behind a servant that looked like her, a body double who was mercilessly slain by the Hunters. To placate the masses, a lie was spread that Elizabeth had been captured, tried, found guilty, and imprisoned in her own rooms which were then walled up, where she remained until she died. The truth is that Elizabeth escaped justice that night and went into hiding for hundreds of years. She assumed many different names over those centuries, living as both a Noble and a Commoner and, while she remained unapologetic for the evils of her youth, with age came maturity and she restrained herself to only the occasional murder. When news reached her of a town called Valor, where Humans and Supernatural folk of all races would live in peace, Elizabeth couldn't resist the curiosity.[/hider]
