The way I'm seeing it it would be like trapping someone inside an Iron Maiden. They'd be protected from the outside by the metal shell, but still take damage on the inside from the spikes. The best way to write that would be to say the target takes X Health loss, rather than damage, since I'm using 'Health loss' as a way to bypass all defences. I'd also allow any of your 'Geomancy' powers to ignore the [i][b]Merged[/b][/i] defence boost for a captive, since you'd be using the walls of their prison to attack them, but the rest of the squad wouldn't be able to get through them. You'd have to be using skills though, standard attacks would still suffer the penalty.
