He'd be a Home School tech whiz who makes strong use of freeware resources and physical training. A slightly different cast would stem from ideas I've had before, but I don't think any of you have seen. He'd operate outside the Batfamily but basically do what they do in the upcoming We Are Robin monthly.

This way we could keep his modus operandi, but instead of needing a Robin, believe that Batman really needs more Robins. I wouldn't step on Hillan's toes or create a redundant character. But at the same time.. I could play too.
