Windel has confirmed that this RP takes place in the same universe as PMMM, original characters included (Kyoko and Sayaka have been secretly murdered by Chiyo :btw). The reason we're not fighting Witches has not been revealed yet.

Also, I seriously recommend you watch Madoka Magica: Rebellion. It's a movie that continues where the series left off, and is one of the best anime movies I've seen this decade.
