Also, I'd think that the son of the tycoon wouldn't have much contact with his parents (or the surviving one, at least), because AMRO covers up all the alchemy stuff, and he'd essentially need to be undercover if he went to visit.  So he might be used to being rich, but it wouldn't change much of his current status.  Just a thought.
