Estelle Thomas was the first.
When she was two years old, a patch of skin on her throat lightened to pure white. It formed the shape of a star exactly.
By the time she was twelve, she was an internationally-renowned pop star.

No one thought anything of the star on her throat. Maybe it was a scar; maybe she was just born with it.

Orion Faust was born with a white star on either hand.
When he was eight he played Ligeti’s first “impossible” piano etude at Carnegie Hall, and played it flawlessly.

Atlas Oritz had a white star on his ankle.
He won the 100, 200, 400, 800, and 1600 runs at the Olympics, the long-jump, high-jump, 400m hurdles, and decathlon. When he was fifteen.

That was when people started noticing. Conspiracy theorists, religious freaks, and dark minds all looked to the Stars.

That was twenty years ago. Today, there are hundreds of Star-Children and an organization  devoted to uniting them and attempting to understand what it is that makes their powers function. 

This organization has discovered that, when undergoing intense physiological or psychological trauma, it is possible for one’s star power to be “Corrupted,” wherein the mark turns black and the individual’s power increases. But it is at a cost. The only way to change the power is to basically torture the individual that has the mark; after this experience, the Corrupted Stars (as they are called) are no longer the same. They lose their hold on humanity, and on their sense of right-and-wrong. The power destroys them. 

The organization continues to change Stars, being apathetic at best about the Corrupted ones going insane. The Stars have to wonder: Is there an ulterior motive?

Welcome to Our Brightest Stars! This is a plot bunny that I got this morning and decided to run with. Anyway. That’s about all I have as far as plot goes, and any suggestions are welcome. Feel free to fill out a character sheet now, or wait until I get the OOC up, which will happen probably on Monday, or sooner, depending on how much interest we get.

This is to be a high-casual roleplay. There will probably be some dark themes involved. I would ask for mature role-players. This doesn’t mean you have to be over eighteen (I would almost encourage otherwise, to be honest) it just means that a) you must be able to write coherently; and b) you must be mature, as in, not pitching fits and rage-quitting, when things don’t go your way.

Obviously, romance is going to happen. Keep it PG-13, obviously, because site rules. Heh.

At this point in time I have two co-gms: [@duck55223] and [@ClocktowerEchos] I chose them because I've played with them before and their writing and managing styles will help to balance mine. Please, please please listen to them. It'll make it so much easier on me if people don't go to war with my co-gms. 

Try not to reuse the same powers as other people. It'll be hard not to reuse locations of stars, but... you know. Originality is good.

A star over the eye might be the ability to see anything within visible range with perfect clarity; but it might also be for a photographic memory (the ability to see something and remember it) or it might be for like the ability to tell if someone is telling the truth or not. Be creative with it, and as long as there’s a semi-logical reason for it, I will generally accept it.

Del is of average height for his age, as well as of average weight class. His muscles are fairly developed, but he is by no means as burly as a football player of anything like that. In fact his body is very lithe, this is accentuated by the fact that he always wears clothing that’s very easy to move in. T-shirts, shorts, and oftentimes he’ll put on a beanie and wear his headphones around his neck. He tends to carry around his skateboard where he can. His dyed red hair oftentimes will make him stick out in a crowd, but his hair is naturally brown. He tends to have a tiny smile on his face with his inquisitive eyes looking around. Between his attire and hairstyle he puts out a very generic ‘skater’ look.


[b]Location & Notes on Star Mark:[/b] Del has two stars on either ankle. They are five pointed stars, stretched slightly so they appear almost as the wings on Hermes’ sandals.

[i]Omni-Transport[/i]- Del’s power is an interesting one as it’s applications are very expensive. The power of Omni-Transport gives Del a host of abilities that allow him to move very quickly in almost any environment. The powers granted from this ability are as follows;
-Intuitive Vehicle Mastery:  Del, upon so much as touching any vehicle, understands completely how to drive and operate such a vehicle, and is able to as though he was a master. This includes but is not limited to, cars, trucks, bikes, skateboards, and even more complex vehicles like airplanes.
-Limited Magnetism Polarity: Del has the ability to magnetize his hands and feet, as well as virtually all surfaces, allowing him to stick to them like a spider. This lets him perform feats of parkour impossible for a normal human, as well as perform feats such as climbing up a completely flat wall, and sticking to ceilings.
-Enhanced Speed: Del is considerably faster than an average human, though not by too much. He can consistently run at 35 miles per hour, and he can do a maximum of 40 MPH if he pushes himself extremely hard. Once he made it to fifty MPH, but snapped his achilles tendon in the process.
-Enhanced Musculature: Del’s muscles are a bit stronger and more enduring than normal humans. He can run and climb for extremely long periods of time without tiring, he can jump higher, farther, and faster than normal humans. He can also hit slightly harder than one would expect for someone in his weight class.
-No Need For Oxygen: Del did not develop lungs in the womb as his body has no need for oxygen. But to balance this, the energy required by Del to function means he must consume massive amounts of food, enough to feed four people. Since he requires no oxygen, he can be underwater or in space indefinitely. Additionally, Del still subconsciously goes through the motions of breathing in and breathing out, but he can cease these if he focuses.
-Enhanced Durability: Del is more durable than the average person, in certain conditions. For one reason or another, the deeper underwater Del goes, the more durable his body gets, as though to allow him to travel in such spaces. This durability also allows him survival in space. But this durability is inconsistent, as if you were to punch, shoot, or stab him, he’d suffer the same damage as a normal human being.
-Flight?: One of the powers Del has never managed to get very far with, he can levitate maybe two or three inches off the ground and no more than that. He thinks he could probably manage to fly one day, but he's not sure.

Personality:
Del is and has always been a quiet boy, content to simply observe the world around him. he very rarely has anything to say, but when he does he is keen to make himself heard. Despite his quietness Del is strong willed, and won’t back down for anyone. Despite this he is somewhat open minded, and likes hearing about other people’s opinions, but simultaneously, he very rarely will give up his own. He likes a good joke and will chuckle quietly when he hears one, but he’ll rarely make one on his own. He’s not a people person, yet he’s not directly opposed to being around people, he’ll make small talk with those who talk to him but won’t actively seek people out to converse with.
Del has a very strong sense of a right and wrong, and to him, something about the mysterious organization researching those with the power of the stars doesn’t seem right. Del sees his ability as a gift and uses it whenever he can, as he loves doing parkour and traversing around the city. In relation to the Corrupted, he wants to help them, but doesn’t know how.

Biography: 
Del was born to two British people in the city of New York. More specifically, Queens. His parents were both fairly mundane people, they both worked standard 9 to 5 jobs in the city while Del went to school and stayed at home with his grandmother. Del’s grandmother was a very kind old woman who had a lot to teach Del about the world- and about his star marking. His grandmother was a conspiracy theorist to some degree, not because she actually believed in such things, but because she didn’t have much to do since her husband died. Once she saw Del had the star marking, a little light went on in her head as she made the connections, and she immediately went to researching all she could.
As soon as his grandmother discovered his markings, Del’s after school life became less and less about relaxation, and more and more about finding the limits of just what his ability was and its limits. He trained hard at it from the age of seven, all through until he was fourteen, at which point his grandmother passed away. It was then Del decided to reveal his fantastic abilities to his parents, only for them to shun him. They thought that, somehow, whatever magical thing causing Del’s ability had caused his grandmothers death. Distraught, Del packed a bag of meager supplies, money, grabbed his skateboard, and left home. He’s been living on the street for about two years now. Life has been hard- He’s been mugged, moneys gotten tight, and some nights he had trouble meeting the needs of his extreme diet. But he’s pulled through.

Biography: Born in Egypt. He lost his parents at a young age and as a result, he had to raise himself, as well as a couple of younger siblings. He found himself able to talk his way out of a number of situations, and easily able to speak with foreigners. He managed to etch out a living acting as a tour guide during his youth, as well as acting as an informant when he'd heard of foreign threats. Very slowly he ended up gathering a number of orphaned children who he took in as an older brother. He's very protective of his 'siblings', and he'll do anything to keep them safe and fed.
Trivia: He's illiterate, and has a distrust of people who he's seen lie. Hates child abusers and pedophiles with a passion.

Appearance: She's a small girl, reaching about 4'8", and is pretty stout as well. She has long, wavy, dark brown hair and equally brown eyes. She has a tan complexion, mostly from genetics, partially from the Florida sun, where she has lived most of her life. Her face is rounded and often decorated with a cocky smirk. Her outfits mainly consist of pinks, whites, and browns, since those are her favorite colors.
Location and notes on star mark: Her star is located on her stomach, about three inches across. Her star has eight points, meant to resemble a compass. The four points pointing up, down, left, and right are slightly bigger, while the points in between those are a little smaller. Her star is placed on her stomach because her power is sort of like a gut feeling.
Star power: Her power is the ability to find out where the answer lies. Her ability is fairly limited, since her power doesn't tell her how to find the answer, and the location gets more general the farther away she is.

Personality: Estrella is a lot of things, but overall she's a kid looking to have fun. Her most noticeable traits are her surprisingly passionate nature and her tendency towards trickary. She enjoy pranks and jokes, as well as teasing people. In fact, she tends to push it more than she should, which gives her reputation for being kind of a jerk around the school. She can be a rather sweet kid, but she often ends up being mean to someone before she's nice to someone, leaving her to feel misjudged and bitter towards the other kids. She does have a group of friends, but they tend to get very dramatic about her behaviors. Usually that's over in a week or so and they all stay good friends.
Biography: Three years ago, Estrella and her adoptive sisters Sarah, Vicky, and Lily were adopted by their mothers, Rose and Samantha (in their words, they had a hard time making a decision). They all became a big, happy family, and they lived out their lives normally. However, a year later, Rose left without a word to anybody. They all eventually carried on, but it left a noticeable mark on everyone. Otherwise, Estrella is a happy girl about to enter middle school and having fun with sports and clubs. About three or four months ago, she was swimming with some friends when her mother, who was supervising the gathering, noticed her star. She told her to hide it, since she has heard rumors about what happened to those with stars and wasn't sure what people might think. Estrella did, but since she realized what her power was she's been practicing it regularly, seeing if she could train it to try and expand her abilities, but she hasn't hasnt been practicing long and doesn't know if the training is actually working.
Trivia: Her interests include sports and acting, and she loves sweets. She also likes to spend time trying to find answers to random questions ever since she discovered her ability. Her dislikes include wearing shoes for a long time and really wide open spaces. She has trypophobia, the fear of a collection of holes.
