Haichi] The Thrill of Challenge The bandaged man watched the fights with interests, instantly recognizing the two Kekei Genkai that were displayed. A Sawada and a Maru, how fun. More interested in the crystal boy, though, the Star child is on his last legs, and unless that healer of theirs is really something, he’s not going to be able to do much without seriously straining himself. A fight without some challenge is much too boring, though that just means I’ll get to have more fun with him. Given that, I probably wouldn't end him the moment he steps in the ring. Pobably He smiled at the thought as he walked into the battle, looking at his opponent, feeling a slight shiver run up his spine as he did so. His eyes shone with a frenzied delight as he quickened his pace to the starting position, resisting the urge to lick his lips as he did so. It was obvious that the man facing him was strong, and that this would be a very entertaining match indeed. The man across from him smiled confidently, removing his cloak to show off his heavily muscled form, inked all over with flames and kanji that flowed and intertwined with each other over the tapestry that was his body. He, just like his teammate, possessed an extra set of arms, which were already engaged in a stream of handseals. “Unlike my brother, I’m hard to anger and smart fighter. Your tricks do no good against Haichi.” As he spoke he finished the jutsu, slamming his four fists together with a massive surge in his chakra. It whipped around his arms, soon coaleseing to form a layer of lava, which was further covered by chunks of volcanic rock. He then took a stance, smiling cockily at his opponent before charging towards the bandaged figure at surprising speeds for a man of his size. He wasn’t particularly fast, but he was faster than you would expect. The bandaged man reacted fast, throwing a brace of kunai at the man, then running through a string of seals before activating the jutsu. Ten kunai became a thousand in a rather large puff of smoke, hiding the smaller man from his foe’s sight for a moment. Haichi didn’t slow down in the slightest, simply interlocking his arms in front of each other to form a makeshift shield, deflecting all of the projectiles and warping them beyond usability with ease from the intense heat. Coming out of the steam, he found his opponent and sent a fast, two fist jab straight to his gut. Before it hit, however, the underneath of the bandaged man’s cloak began to glow brightly before he went up in a large explosion, a result of the numerous explosive tags being used at once. Haichi was able to block the brunt of it by pulling his punch at the last second, protecting his vital areas with his chakra enhanced arms, but it still left his head ringing a bit and his legs suffered from some light burns as well. The explosion came with more smoke as well, reducing visibility by quite a bit. The large man stood ready, focusing on his other senses to find out where the next attack would be coming from. He didn’t have to wait long, however, as several demon wind shurikens came at him from four directions at high speeds. Haichi was quick to counter, gathering chakra into his arms and feet as he began to rapidly spin in place, arms outstretched and palms open. The fingers changed, quickly forming into claws which he used to batter the shuriken away, the heat from his hands easily warping the metal into uselessness. But he that wasn’t all, as the spin continued to move faster and faster, dispersing the smoke as he did so. “Yoton: Volcanic Whirlpool!” As he spoke, the chakra built into his arms blasted out as a pressurized stream of lava, smashing into the barrier with intense force and making a spinning disk of lava around him. The bandaged man, sensing danger had barely managed to blast himself up over the deadly substance in time, suffering a great amount of pain as a few drops grazed his outstretched arms. His three clones, which had been summoned in the mist, faired much worse, getting completely annihilated by the attack. To make matters worse, he had nowhere to land, now, as the lava, even when the man finished his jutsu, would still be there on the ground. Despite the danger, as time seem to slow around him, the bandaged man couldn’t be happier as his heart raced at a frantic pace. His mind pulsated with a million ideas on how to escape what appeared to be certain death, and so much adrenaline was pumping through his veins, it may as well have been his blood at the moment. Now this, this is a real fight. I might actually die right now. But I can’t do that, or else . . . there wouldn't be anyone left to take care of Makoto. As his mind turned to his sister, who was now basically his daughter, all things considered, time speed up and the glee he had exhibited moments before where subdued by a much more serious expression as he ran through a quick string of handseals, taking a deep breath before blowing out a powerful gale of air down at the ground. This caused a small explosion of lava moving outward, which cause Haichi to stop this current jutsu and, somewhat dizzily, run through a few hand seals before slamming his hands into the ground, causing it to rise up above pool of magma. While he was getting himself together, the bandaged man quickly reached into his cloak before pulling out two scrolls, the lift from the great breakthrough jutsu giving him just enough time to do so. Opening them up below him, he sent a pulse of chakra to activate the seals inscribed within them, causing a forceful blast of water to burst out from them. As it made contact with the lava, a massive amount of steam formed, and a thin layer of cooled magma was created, still rather hot to the touch, but it was just stable enough to allow the bandaged man to leap off it a split second after landing on it, with assistance from his propelling winds jutsu. If he had stayed on a second longer, the cround would’ve broken open and he’d have been swallowed up by the magma underneath. it wasn’t very deep, but it was still a bad idea to get touched by it. As he rose through the air towards where his opponent was, he forming a shadow clone as he did so to grab him by his legs and quickly spun him high into the air, before propelling itself towards Haichi. The burly man, his hands still coated in lava, had just recovered from his jutsu, and easily blocked the clone’s sword strike attempt attempted sword strike using the ronin’s katana. The lava swinging ninja grinned at his foe, easily overpowering what he thought was the real one, and using his lower arms to send a devastating cross punch straight through the clones gut. his smile faded only slightly when he discovered it to be a clone. His sharp hearing picked up on the sound of something falling through the air above. “What did I say, tricks do no good against Haichi!” The man yelled as he quickly turned around to defend against the attack, planning to give this bandaged manica the same treatment as the clone. He could just make out the figure coming towards, him, but the steam was too thick to give him an idea of what the man was lanning other than another straight forward attack. As the bandaged man’s veiled blade hit clashed against Haichi’s lava and rock cloaked arms, he expected it to only clang off, warped beyond repair. He didn’t expected to have his upper left arm and right hand to be cut off, his armor seeming to offer only the slightest bit of resistance before it suddenly came undone, as if no more chakra was being fed to it. The last thing he could remember before the pain hit was that he couldn’t even see the blade, only a dark shape in the mist. Then he could see nothing as the pain clouded his mind, almost making him faint from the suddenness of it. Haichi was a resilient man, however, and quickly willed himself through the agony. he even added to it, by cauterizing his wounds using the lava from his second pair of hands, stopping the bleeding before it became an even bigger problem. The bandaged man allowed Haichi to recuperate, the arrogance returning to his eyes as he figured his foe was defeated, the blade he had used to cut the man gone before anyone from the audience could witness it. The steam had done an excellent job of hiding his last attack from view, meaning that it was very unlikely anyone had seen what he’d done. But it was clearing now, and his opponent stood resolute among the clearing mist with a strong determination to continue the fight in his eyes. This only caused the bandaged man smile to grow as he prepared to see what was next attack the big man would send his way. Not wasting any time, Haichi went through a string of hand seals before slamming his remain hands into the ground, causing it to rapidly shift and crack until a large dragon made of earth and rock arose from it like a shark, already closing in on his bandaged foe with incredible speed. Taken by surprise, he was barely able to side-step the attack with propelling winds, taking a glancing blow as he did so that sent him spinning and knocked the air out of him as well. The dragon turned around and charged again, eager to devour the one who had injured it’s creator, but this time, the bandaged man was able to dodge it, though only barely as he was still catching his breath from the last attack. This continued for a little while, as the dragon was attacking much too quickly for him to retaliate with a jutsu of his own. He was beginning to get used to the attack pattern, however, and was about to launch a counter attack, when another dragon suddenly appeared from behind, this one being somewhat smaller than the other one, but was quickly growing as it seemed to absorb the earth around it at a moderate pace. The attack from behind sent the bandaged man flying into the air, and probably would’ve seriously injured if the dragon had been bigger. As it was, he had only suffered some moderate bruising along his back; making it only a minor injury, albeit a painful one. However, the attack gave him the needed space to retaliate before the larger dragon could finish him off. Forming the signature hand sign, he brought forth two shadow clones, and all three of them began to form a stream of hand signs before taking a deep breath., “Katon: Great Fire Destruction!” “Fuuton: Great Wind Breakthrough!” The man and the first clone launched a devastating assault from above, the already formidable flames from the powerful B-ranked attack being fueled into a white-hot inferno by the addition of the wind technique. Haichi, upon seeing this, immediately sent more chakra into his larger dragon, sending it upward to meet the attack with a thick layer of rock and earth. This allowed the dragon to bolster through the intense flame all the way to it’s source, the fire causing most of the outer layer to melt into lava, but it still held it’s shape easily due to the man’s kekkei Genkai. The dragon nearly ended the bandaged man, but his shadow clone acted quickly, ceasing his wind attack to grab the original and toss him out of harm’s way to take the attack itself. The dragon easily tore through him, and was about to turn around and charge down on the bandaged man when it suddenly fell apart. He gave a sigh of relief, turning around in midair as he fell down towards the battlefield, avoiding the debris by propelling himself away from where it was falling, looking down on where his opponent was. All according to plan, but man was that a close call. While him and his first clone where engaging the large dragon, his second clone had fallen down to the ground before unleashing its attack, blasting out a dragon of his own made completely of intense flames, which split into three to attack Haichi from three sides. Seeing this coming, the burly man hesitated slightly, sure that if he held out a little longer, he would end his opponent . . . but not before the flames reached him. He sent the smaller dragon to block the dragon attacking from the front, then poured more chakra into his lava gauntlets to increase their size before releasing his hold on the dragon jutsu to intercept the attacks coming in from the sides. The second clone was done in by the hot debris launched at it by the death of the smaller dragon, but not before he took a second to throw a pair of kunai at the man’s hands. As they stuck into the enlarged gauntlets, all the man would hear was the small hissing sound of an explosive tag, before two explosions consumed him in their firey embrace. After the dust had cleared, the man was covered in burns and on his knees. His remaining arms hanging limply by his sides. The bandaged man landed right in front of him with a crouch, giving a small smile at his defeated foes before bringing up another scroll and unsealing it with a pulse of chakra. A large amount of foul smelling liquid doused the man, causing him to gag and hiss as his wounds burned. But more than that, he felt an intense fear settle over him as he recognized the smell of the liquid instantly. He raised his head up, eyes wide and mouth open. “I-” Before he could say another word, the bandaged man kicked him right in his gut, cutting off the words, then he gripped the man by his throat, choking his wind pipe as he drained as much chakra as he could without killing the man. The man had used about half of his rather large reserves in the fight, so their was a good amount left for the bandaged man to take. After he had sucked the man dry of his energy, he tossed him away dismissively before speaking, his tone a mix of mocking arrogance, and genuine respect. “I must say, you were quite the opponent, Haichi, and where a bit off a trickster yourself with that last jutsu, though you probably should’ve stuck with a jutsu you knew instead of using one you obviously just learned recently. Maybe then, you would’ve won, but that’s still a big maybe. For giving me such a good show, let me tell you the name of the man who killed you.” Turning his head towards Haichi’s still form, his arm held out in front of him. Violet orbs gleamed maliciously as he spoke the final words the burly man would ever hear. “My name is Sanguine, Haichi-san, and it was truly a pleasure to fight you.” As soon as he finished, there was a moment of silence that was soon dashed to pieces as Sanguine snapped his fingers. After about 15 minutes or so of Haichi’s cries of agony, pain, and despair, the man finally fell silent, leaving behind a burnt up sack of meat the could barely be recognized as the imposing figure from before. And Sanguine had taken great pleasure in watching the man burn, though it was clear that this was far from his preferred method of dealing with his opponents. He felt that it lacked a more personal touch, but he also knew that with an foe as good as this, he would’ve most certainly try to draw it out. better to end it relatively quickly then risk getting a penalty for taking too long. After he had finished with that, the arena repaired itself and removed the hazardous lava through some strange method and Hachi’s body was taken away. However, before it could be disposed of, an injured Kapora had exited from the small medical facility they had in the depths of the facility, His dazed eyes looked confusedly on the burnt body of his brother, before widening in horrid realization. Forgetting his injuries in a blur of righteous fury and rage, he charged at Sanguine with a deafening roar. The bandaged man looked at the charging figure with bored as he quickly went through five-handseals and substituted himself with a chair. Paneru’s chair, to be specific. As his chair was completely demolished by Kapora’s enraged fists, Paneru would find himself falling a short distance only to be caught by a pair of strong hands underneath armpits. He’d be righted up, dusted off, and turned around to be looked over by Sanguine, who no longer had an air of malicious and bloodlust around him. He gave Paneru a final checkover, coming to two conclusions. He was fine, and he was a he, not a she. “And here I was thinking you were a girl this whole time, how interesting.” He gave a small eye smile towards the girly boy, before turning to the others and giving them a small wave. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to deal with that guy.” With that, he disappeared using the body flicker to appear right behind the Kapora, and before the man could realize he was there in his rage-fuelled rampage, Sanguine channeled fire chakra into the katana he wielded and quickly decapitated the man, leaving instantly cauterizing the wound as it was made. The body fell, but Sanguine was quick to catch the head, disappearing again in a blur of movement before appearing above Jaakuna, dropping the head into the boy’s lap before landing behind him. “A trophy to commemorate your first real fight. I suggest you mount it on your wall . . . if you survive your next fight that is.” With those ominous words, he disappeared one final time, returning to his seat with a sigh and a grin. He was very excited, the adrenaline from his last match still pumping through his veins. I hope my next fight is at least as good as this one, or else I’m going to be very upset, and the person who I fight will be wishing their dead when I’m through with them.
[@Savato] [@Angel Eyes] [@Altered Tundra] [@j8cob]
The Bandaged man, whose name is revealed as Sanguine, has an epic fight with Kapora’s brother, Haichi, who can use Lava Release. After an intense battle in which Sanguine almost bites it a couple times, Haich is left disabled, drained of chakra, and is killed by being set on fire. As his body is getting carted away, an injured kapora comes out of the medical facility they have on premises(which are very, very shady and not that good either) he goes into a rage upon seeing his brother dead. He attacks Sanguine, who evaded via substituting himself with Paneru’s chair, talks to the leaf group a bit, then goes back down to decapitate Kapora with a single swing of his blade(which he heated with fire chakra to cauterize the wound). He then drops the head into Jaakuna’s lap, says some creepy shit, then goes back to his seat in anticipation for his next match.
