I could see Dream knowing him simply because of how old they both were. Maybe the dynamic of Metanoia talks/vents, Dream listens and offers what little he/she could. It doesn't seem like Metanoia would [i]want[/i] anything from Dream? I can't see Dream wanting something from him, unless he likes to share the current going-ons of the current Pantheon; as the Dreamers don't really regret much, and their pasts...well, checkered as they may be, are mostly something Dream is at peace with.
