It would make more sense in terms of what I've seen in some manga that homeroom is where students go first immediately after the ceremony. Oh, but no worries. Right after meeting those in the same year as you, you'll be able to head to your dorms and do... Er, whatever you want I guess. (Let's keep this under 18+ though, please?) xD
