When I have more time [about to head into work], I'm gonna read through Lady Thor's CS and see if I can spin Thunderstrike in a way to give her breathing room. 

I read something about how the Human Torch almost had a tv series where the better parts of the android's origin were mixed with the character of Johnny Storm. Basically Storm is a fireman and rescues Dr. Horton from a lab fire and exposes himself to the experiment of the scientist: Horton Cells. After days at work, Johnny bursts into flame for the first time to save fellow firemen and becomes a superhero soon after. 

In a nutshell it makes Johnny Storm his own man and tweaks his origin. He could still be in an F4 if it happens cause Sue is his sister, but now it'd give somebody a chance to make Doom the 4th rather than 5th man aboard Richards' spacecraft. Or maybe somebody else could be aboard to make their origin a little more interesting, like Mole Man or Quasar...
