House Name House av Snaggasson Sigil House Words You Know Our Names House Specialty The Blackthegns – Across the Northlands, there is not a man unfamiliar with the Blackthegns. The practice of draping oneself in a wolf fur, coating shield and weapon with black paint and silently rowing upriver to set yourselves in amongst the enemy camp like angry spirits calling for blood with near-inhuman howling is a practice left over from House av Snaggasson’s ancestry dating back to the Vyntic tribe they are descended from and the way they waged war. A fearsome thing to see them on the field in day, signaling the start of a day’s bloodshed with their inhuman whooping and howling from beyond the mist, an even more frightening thing to have them do their dark and bloody work at night, where the only thing you see is white eyes and white teeth. Ancestral Weapon The Father of Swords – House av Snaggasson has always been in possession of the Father of Swords, some grey-heads even saying it predates the great migration of the Vyntics to Skavia and Perhyr in the Northlands. The Father of Swords is an odd sword larger than most ancient Vyntic blades and made of a steel that never dulls, but something about the rune no Vyntic can read gives it its power to split shields and cut like a knife through butter. Some say Snagga the Quickfoot won it in a duel against a giant years upon years ago, others say Snagga found it in a cave and fucked a good-looking witch for it while yet more others say it fell out of the sky and many legends beside. Whichever one it is, The Father of Swords has always been in the hands of the Chief of Clan Quickfoot, or nowadays the Duke of House av Snaggasson, for as long as anyone can remember. From Vyntic raids to any war, House av Snaggasson has contributed the most veteran fighters to the effort and earned themselves a fierce reputation as staunch defenders of the realm and fiercely loyal allies. In their history, their men have distinguished themselves not only out of bravery, but also out of cunning. House av Snaggasson’s sons, and even daughters, must read the writings of famous generals on the subject of war as part of their lessons in literacy. As men of noble birth and doubly as men of the North, they learn to handle any weapon from swords to flails. Though, for all of their loyalty, they find themselves quickly approaching a time where their oaths to the crown and their honor as men of the North are on two separate sides of a coming conflict. Tormund has left Hjolti’s Run with the Hundred Names and a quarter of the town levies to Vyntarland to raid and fight in the clan wars there, leaving Anleifr to rule and Bor as his adviser. Anleifr is known as a hothead and quick to resort to violence. In contrast, his brother, Frithjolf is a drinking, whoring, coward who always takes the easiest way out. Bor offers his quiet presence as adviser, but everyone feels they’ll need more than Bor’s reassuring nods in the days to come. With their father, Varg av Snaggasson and their mother gone from this world and on to the next, the young ones find themselves in a sea of uncertainty. A civil war looms on the horizon, where they will soon be called upon by either side and must either hold true to their oath to the Crown or defy tyranny on their honor as Northmen. Either way, Anleifr makes ready for war as always while Frithjolf still spends his time in the drink and taverns.
