Orion Fact: Obduro Okanjo, Orion's father, was a Nollywood director of decent, domestic reputation in the early 80's. He met Orion's mother Melissa Ellis after emigrating from Nigeria during the military coup of '93, fearing retaliation for his connections to the Shonekan regime. Melissa was a lawyer specialized in helping African refuge's find asylum in the US and abroad. To this day, Orion has no idea what could have possessed them to tolerate each other long enough to produce spawn, though he supposes he is thankful that they did. They are still married, though they maintain different households and lately only communicate through Orion, who is otherwise free to spend his time at whatever home he likes. He generally prefers to stay at his mother's home, both for her company and decided lack thereof, seeing as she is often away on business. Orion's father on the other hand is almost always home, listening to conservative radio pundits and making disparaging remarks about immigrants. Presumable he is a business man of sorts and claims to own the lease to many of the commercial properties around town, but Orion has never seen him do anything that he could define as business, nor seen the lucrative profits of said venture in any of his father's lifestyle choices, who lives in a small apartment above a salon overlooking the old town square, eats frozen meals, and almost exclusively wears old, threadbare tank tops and bicycle shorts. Orion's mother makes a decent living. She is good at her job, although advocacy is more rewarding in morality than money. She and Orion live comfortably middle class. She expects Orion to perform to his potential academically, do an unspecified but respectable amount of the household chores, supports his extra curriculars, and is a god damned wizard at making sure he performs above those expectations with little more than the occasional arched eyebrow and the use of his full name. Orion has a younger sister. Her name is Jasmine. She is 9. She thinks that birds and her brother are the best things in the world.
