It didn't matter how confident Alex had become, how comfortable she had become with actual fighting, or how invincible she could feel with her powers... at the heart of her being, she was still this submissive, bashful, not forward woman and it always shined the most in situations like this. This moment had quickly spun and turned into a causal and yet somewhat personal encounter and the way Anna just causally strode over and sat down made it even more obvious for Alex. The familiar pit in her stomach churned as Anna looked at her and smiled, one that she hadn't felt for some time. "Um.." was all she could manage at first. She sat up herself and slid more onto the bed, gaining some distance from Anna, even if it was only an inch or two. This wasn't an act of fear or pushing away, but rather a shy nervousness that wasn't that hard to see painted across Alex's face. Her apparent partner reminded her a little of Jasmine - perhaps more than she wanted to admit - the sweetness, the confidence, the forwardness, though Jasmine had been perhaps a bit rougher around the edges being a detective. Alex hadn't ever slowed down enough to let herself feel again, but now that she was here, she was being forced to and she wasn't entirely sure what to make of it. Maybe she was just being stubborn about the fact that she liked Anna being so forward. "I, uh, didn't think of that.." She smiled shyly and chuckled a little. Biting her lower lip for a moment, she forced herself to relax a little. "Guess you know why they pulled me here, huh? I found Jasmine's killer after a few months, but still can't nail the guy... stupid lawyers using loop holes..." She paused, not meaning to go down that particular path just yet. "So.. um, why are you here? Just a friendly face offering services to helping the world?" Alex got the feeling it was probably more complicated than that, but couldn't think of a polite way of pushing it further than that. She crossed her legs, gently laying her hands in her lap, and looked at Anna patiently unsure if she'd even get an answer.
