Alrighty, here's my attempt at a character. I apologize in advanced for any awkward wording since I'm kind of — in the most eloquent words I can think of — poopy brain dead. Aaaaand I may have unintentionally contradicted the story/setting since I might not have understood everything but...Well, it's done and now out in the public for everyone to judge, so judge away.
Name: Grun Age: 120 Years Old Gender: Female Race: Divined Appearance: When compared to those of her kind, Grun is considered somewhat on the short side, standing at 170cm / 5’7” and weighing an abnormal 54kg / 120lbs. She has smooth/soft grayish skin, large pupiless eyes, and elongated appendages as per the norm for Divined, and the unearthly glow she seems to let off presents her as almost ethereal. Soft-spoken with a demure demeanor, there is something distinctly elegant about the way she carries herself. Prettily dressed, she regularly dons the gown of her priesthood and rarely covers herself as other travelling Divined would. Brief history: Grun was born directly into a time where the Divined had already begun to shrink in numbers. Her earliest memories are that of her family abandoning her birth home (whose name has long been forgotten) to rejoin with their other brethren in larger communes to the North. In fact, she was the last of four children to be born to this forgotten settlement. What little of it she can remember, she recalls her time spent in the presence of adults and elders rather than that of other children. Since a young age, she had idealized and respected the church and its teachings, finding solace in prayer and community in the services it offered. She dedicated all her efforts to joining their ranks. Unfortunately her parents had long ago passed away from old age, having already been relatively elderly by the time she was born. It was during this time, through the loss of her family and being left alone to her duties and studies in relative isolation that she came to idolize the Bishop who represented Kedo at the time. Although she never actually met him face-to-face, she viewed him as a patron to the Divined and strove to become everything she thought he was. As the decades passed, Grun was a clergywoman who has long since spread prayer and worship among her people. She was a renowned figure of sorts among the small numbers of the Divined. Respected and admired by her peers she was known for her maternal strength, kindness, and unprejudiced viewpoints. As such, she had several followers who acted as her acolytes. However, when the Church began to reject magical practices, her peers and herself spoke out against it and the following response was to displace the already small community. Reject it as they might, their trifling numbers were no match for the Church’s sheer power. The church went on to publicly shame Grun, strip her of her status (her followers soon leaving her side as a result) and form a stigma against Divined in the public eye. They had created fear among her people where there hadn’t been any before. She has since become a more somber individual, her people are displaced and dwindled in numbers, herself relocated by no will of her own, and the very life essence—magic—that her people live on is being rejected in place of machinery and corporation. She has left her home and became nomadic in an attempt to find other Divined. Despite having lost her status, she carries on in a way that she hopes will unite the Divined and contradict public stereotypes of her people. Additional info: She largely dislikes water including anything from rain to snow to rivers.
