Plot
Through out the long history of Planet Earth, many legends are told of the mythical Dragon Balls. Said to possess great power, the seven orbs are believed to have the power to summon a godlike dragon named Shenron, who has the power to grant any one wish to the person who summons him. Over a long enough period of time, however, the tales of the Dragon Balls became increasingly warped from the truth as the tales are told and retold. Some versions of the myth call them and the dragon by a different name, other myths claim that Shenron isn't a dragon at all. The only nugget of truth that remains in every version of the story is that there are seven orbs, and that they grant the wish of whomever is capable of gathering them. But this legend, like many, has sense faded into obscurity. Old myths and small villages have given way to capital cities and technology. There are, however, still a few of the traditional villages still standing in more remote parts of the world, their histories and legends untouched by the passage of time. In fact, one of the oldest traditions of the world is, even now, still a very prevalent and respected tradition: the Martial Arts. The entirety of Papaya Island has been dedicated to hosting the renowned Tenkaichi Budokai, known also as the World Martial Arts Tournament. Competitors for this world-famous event are known far and wide as the strongest martial arts masters in the world. Those who consider themselves to be Martial Artists are often greatly respected by the common people, or feared, depending on the personality of the fighter in question. Even in some of the modern cities like the metropolis that is West City. In fact, West City is even home to a handful of rival street gangs that use martial arts to decide who owns what territory in the city. It is here that the story begins. The two most prevalent martial arts gangs, the Sabers and the Khans, have begun fighting one another more than usual. The reasons for this increase of activity vary from opinion to opinion, but the most popular one is that they are fighting over possession of one of the Dragon Balls. Rumors like this, of course, have a habit of attracting others who may also be on the hunt for the mythical orbs of legend.
Rules
1. No flaming, bashing, or anything else that violates the site's overall rules. 2. My word, and the word of any Co-GM I assign, is law. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. 3. Stick to Earth-based races. This based on Dragon Ball, not Z. So things like Saiyans and other alien races are a no-no. 4. Power Levels. There will be none, at least not in terms of numbers. In my experience, using numerical power levels always seems to lead to players getting into an unspoken competition over who can raise theirs higher and faster. 5. Speaking of power level, we're keeping the overall power level scale low for this RP. This is, after all, supposed to be Dragon Ball (not Z) where the strongest character was Master Roshi of all people. 6. Since this is Dragon Ball, fights are gonna happen. It's inevitable. Possibly even PvP fights. As such, I will have a separate list of rules below that apply specifically to PvP battles.
PvP Rules
1. Any players that plan on engaging in a fight scene between their characters need to decide who will win before the first punch is ever thrown. How this is accomplished (discussion, coin toss, etc) is up to the players' discretion, but it needs to be agreed upon by both players involved so no arguments can crop up later. 2. I know this is Dragon Ball, where it is a tradition for a single battle to last for what feels like forever, but I don't want to see a fight between player characters that spans multiple pages. Try to keep it brief without cutting it too short. A good solution for this might be to write collaborative posts so that more of the fight scene can be accomplished in less amount of posts/pages.
